If Roy starts lighting wrs up going over the middle like he use to then he plays plenty.

I heard Roy ran over some people, then proceeded to run from the cops, in a truck, with a big picture of himself painted on the side of it.

Thats how stupid Roy is.

I would be literally scared to death if Kevin Burnett began to play more coverage than Roy. Now I am not dissing Kevin's ability, b/c he is one guy I am rooting for, along with Bobby Carpenter. But Roy has proven in the past that he can make plays in coverage.

Roy is still a talented player in the NFL. But whatever it is, he needs to find his game. Roy needs that killer instinct that he once possessed.

I for one believe that it is still there, and refuse to start another Roy Williams thread regarding his lack of production the last couple of seasons. Many players go through big time slumps. But it's still not too late to right the ship.

I truly believe Roy has the talent and pedigree to overcome his latest shortcomings, and once again become an elite SS. But, there are those who will gladly point out whether or not Roy has even tied his shoelaces correctly.

So Roy the LB/SS is better in coverage than Burnett the LB? Whew!!

I just dont see roy getting cut from this team for awhile.

unlike most I think he is here for a couple more years.

I agree theebs. If for anything Jerry loves this kid. He's gonna have to suck for awhile before JJ runs him out. JMO, of course.

Almost none.

I think the additional coverage help (adding AJ, Jenkins & Scandrick) actually helps Roy stay at this point because the D has so many more coverage options when the situation calls for it. Roy can become more of a specialist. But he needs to excell at that.

Cap cost? No issue at this point. We're fine.

Signing bonus is over and done. Still being amortized of course but the money is not coming back no matter what. The issue now becomes his incremental cost each year which is essentially his base salary. I don't know those numbers off the top of my head but I would guess they are pretty reasonable given his deal was signed two years ago I think.

I think Roy's quickest way out of Dallas now would be if his attitude went in the tank and he became a distraction. I don't see that happening. I think he wants to become less visible and just blend in with his teammates.

But he'd better be a very effective run stopper to the point of being a playmaker. Otherwise, he becomes very expendable.

Ok I know.....we've beat this dead horse to death!

But now that we have signed Hamlin to a big deal how can we really afford to have two safeties making this much money?? Throw in Newman and Henry's salary and it's way too expensive. Also, include Pacman (moderate salary) and then we still have to sign Jenkins (1st round money) and Scandrick! Watkins, Ball, etc.

It's too much money for a secondary, at least for two safeties.

I know that we will have to eat his salary, cap wise, but I just don't see the point of keeping him around in an already crowded secondary. We all know he's lost his confidence, but the real thing is the money invested back there.

If somebody has the exact numbers for each memeber of the secondary and can break it down that would be great (sorry I'm on work time!!!).

IMO I think we are cutting bait with him in training camp, or are going to make a trade. We are too good to wait on him anymore and crossing are fingers that he will get back to playing football again. It would be one less distraction for 2008 also.

By the way....this is not a "BASH ROY THREAD".....we know his limitations and we've done that! It's about the cost and what's really good for us as a team. What do you guys think?

Cut Roy and Glenn now, send a message to the team, no need to wait until training camp. Maybe whinners like Ellis would take notice.

First, lets give Roy our support this year, since Roy said, he has turned over a new leaf, gotten into shape. At same time, a great defensive backs coach in Campo was hired. Campo knows Roy's strenghts and weaknesses, even Campo said the Cowboys really didnt put roy in place to succeed or something like that last year.

So, lets see what happens this training camp and go from there, because with henry moving to safety on obvious passing downs, will help roy along with the growth of rookies mike jenkins and orlando in coverages.
