Well... No question about that.

To tell you the truth, I'm not even 100% sold on Romo, as heretical as it is to say. But if he's not good to great, then we aren't winning a Super Bowl anyway.

As far as Matt Jones goes... I'd definitely take him. No, he hasn't been very good, but I'd take a chance on that kind of athletic ability.

Don't know what summer was talking about re: Jones at QB. He was an excellent college QB. But there's not much to study when you run that read option offense.

I agree with Romo not being in the elite league - where Manning and Brady are. He seems to make too many mistakes and is a little too inconsistent. It remains to be seen what he would accomplish with an average set of receiving options as the deck has been stacked in his favour in his frist two seasons here.

The trouble is that it took so long to groom him that he barely had any starts under his belt before a sniff of FA was available. We decided to bite the bullet on a $11M/yr contract. Were we wrong to do that versus franchising him for 1 more year look? I don't know. We definitely bought at the peak of his second year starting. I doubt it would have been much cheaper if we waited for the offseason.

Obviously, we don't know about injuries. They can happen to anyone, but there's more concern there with older players, esp. ones with previous injury problems.

However, I don't really understand why we shouldn't expect Glenn to be back this season. Although he was rusty, he played throughout our playoff game and didn't get hurt again.

Is there any reason to think that he suddenly reinjured his knee in the off-season? Or that he suffered a setback when he finally was showing progress?

Yes, I know he eventually needs more surgery, but nothing has happened to him this off-season that I know of that should indicate that he's not returning. We act like it's a given that if he steps on the field he's going to get injured, but he's already shown that's not the case.

Of course, there is great reason for concern given the condition of his knee, but no rationale for thinking he can't return to the field when he already has.

I guess I've been naive about the situation.
I figured that since he returned last year at the end that he would be ready to go this year.

Mickey just said on the radio that his return is 50-50.

For all those wanting Matt Jones: unless you can show that he GETS it now and realizes he has to work his butt off, NO WAY. The dude got first rd money and frankly from all signs is just coasting.

So we need your permission then?

Yeah right.

Well actually, I talked to the almighty Bill Parcells and he vouched for Matt Jones, so it should all be good.

Once again, Matt Jones gets criticized for Jacksonville reaching for a project wide receiver in the first round. It's the Jaguars' fault they reached for him in the 1st round, not his. It's also the Jaguars' fault for giving him lousy coaching while making that position switch.

Again, I'll ask:

In the past several years, what wide receiver have the Jaguars developed?

And again, I don't expect an answer.

If being called 'laid-back' means Matt Jones is lazy, does that same rule apply to Wade Phillips?

He should of been on the IR all last year.. He used up a spot that could of been used on Matt Moore.

Someone with some sense finally.

Unless some of you have first hand knowledge about what his arthroscopy looked like and how he's been doing since then you are purely speculating. Sure he has a problem. But we don't really know how bad it is.

I can understand why you want the younger guys to do well but why would you not want TG back. If he can play at 80% then he will be better than everyone but a healthy TO. I'm worried about his ability, too. But we just can't really know until we see more of him. TC should tell us at least a little. But it will likely be the first few games of the year before we actually can predict anything. We need a healthy TG. At least one who can play at a level near what he used to be.

uhhh i am certain that Bob Hayes chances are less than 50-50.

That's my point - it's a ridiculous probability to go out on a limb with. He either will come back or he won't. Bob Hayes either will come back or he won't. I know what I'm leaning towards, though.

There's a 50-50 chance someone breaks into my house and bludgeons me with a golf club before I click 'submit' on this post.

Well....here I am.

Anyway, I was just playing around with the original post. It seemed like a waste of an article. We all know he either will or won't. Give me something more. Lean in a direction.
