The thing with Romo is the following.

WE CHEER THE DALLAS COWBOYS... one of the World's greatest and most recognized sports franchises!!! I wish, we had a QB like (currently) like brady or manning. A QB worthy of this TEAM.

Romo is IMO, a very very fortunate and lucky guy that is being given more attention, and praise just for being on this team.

I like and respect both Manning and Brady but Dallas is lucky to have one of the top QB's in the NFL. He may not be Brady or Manning but he is one of the top QB's who is only in his 3rd season as a starting QB.

well my my own POV, i know i can ask people like you and dcfanatic to chill out on the roy posts and suddenly i'm a pompom waver. i'm telling everyone how to post. i'm worthless and need to stop whining.

much of that may be true. but i'm not a pompom waver because asking people to stop saying the same negative things day in and day out doesn't mean i support the player in question but you 2 put me there all the time with it.

it just means i'm sick and tired of hearing ROY SUCKS so often. neither of you have ever asked me my opinion of Roy, you just assume i'm a pompom waver because i'm tired of the whining about him.

Doooms.

I once thought like you and I really respect you. But I HAVE TO say, that for now, and I dont think my mind will chagne back. I do not think of Romo an an "Elite" QB I just see him as averange.

i see david garrad as average.
i see chad henne as average.
i see jason cambell as wanting to be average one day to average
i see hasslebeck as average these days

who do you see as average you would compare him to? then, what about all the other numbers romo throws up no one else can touch that put him in elite status with HOF QBs? i'm NOT saying he is, i'm simply saying he's got some insane stats any *Average* QB would quiver over.

and here in dallas, it's not enough.

You might not start a thread, but can you say you never go into multiple threads already started and doing similar things?

Not nagging at you but it seems you are splitting a fine hair imo.

Yes, there's quite a bit of difference between starting a thread that calls out and baits fellow posters and normal, day-to-day thread participation.

We just disagree. I don't claim that Romo is a Manning or Brady but teams can go years before they find a once in a life time QB. Romo is a top notch QB and gives the Cowboys a chance he is not super man and will not single handly carry this team but he has the skill and ability to help this team win a championship and for that to happen it will take Tony and those around him to get it done. I have no doubts they have ability but they need to make it happen. I'm banking they will.

why is calling out these jokers "taking the low road"?

That's the very problem.
Everyone has an opinion and everyone wants to voice it. But what's the point if there are no repercussions for your comments afterwards. Why even discuss it? If everyone is going to excercise such a short memory you might as well be sharing your opinions with your couch.

It's the lack of being called out that makes it so easy for people to make the ridiculous statements they make. I think talking out of both sides of your mouth or never having to fess up to your ridiculous statements is "taking the low road".

I agree. We hear this BS ragging daily about the coaches and players on this team by some poster if it were a skins fan or eagles fans I'm sure bbgun would not have a problem calling them out for mouthing off and not having the guts to even give credit when the team does well. These are fans? please that is not what a fan does. They don't support the team and are looking for every reason under the sun to rip them. If that is what you call a supporter I don't know of a team who would want that support.

Seems like there are just as many zoners making outlandish claims that it's superbowl time using the 'evidence' that a -2 record correlates to everything is now fine.

Where will you be when/if the Cowboys pull a December slide?...If Romo stinks it up?...Will you be calling yourself out as a fool as well?

The emotional maturity with some of you is downright juvenile.

I guess the criticism prior to this winning streak were unwarranted, right?...Wade had been doing a bangup job?...Romo was winning?...Was winning in December?...Was winning playoff games?...Miles Austin, Crayton and Hurd had been doing a great job before this current string of winning games?

The difference between knee jerk 'patting yourself on the back' antics and the criticisms from 'naysayers' is that you're predicating your gloating on a 4 game win streak while the rest of the critics based it on the body of 3 years of games.

Foolish much?

Ok... this is my point of view so here goes..

IMO

Elite "proven" current active QBs (in no particular order)

1. P. Manning
2. Tom Brady
3. Brett Fave (lets start the favre-romo comparison if you like)
4. McNabb
5. Drew Bress
6. Big Ben
7. Rivers

QB's that I think will be much much better than Romo in time

1. Flacco
2. Matt Ryan
3. Aaron Rodgers

How do I see Romo?

More or less like the following

1. Kitna
2. Hasselbeck
3. Jake Helhomme
4. Bulger
5. Culppeper
6. Aaaron brooks
7. Rodney Pete

QBs that have sparks here and there.. but wont ever consolidate

Because people like you are rarely subjected to the same treatment, and because the pie-in-the-sky crowd serially conflates "dissent" with "hate."

That's the very problem.

That sounds ominous. What did you have in mind? Maybe you're just trying to rationalize trash taking. Ever heard of the Golden Rule?

Why even discuss it? If everyone is going to excercise such a short memory you might as well be sharing your opinions with your couch.

Most people would try to enjoy the victory instead of spoiling for a fight.

It's the lack of being called out that makes it so easy for people to make the ridiculous statements they make. I think talking out of both sides of your mouth or never being having to fess up to your ridiculous comments is "taking the low road".

There are extremists on both sides, but one one side gets called out. Something to ponder.

My guess is that they're balanced out by those folks who whistle a happy tune no matter what transpires on the field. The same ones who are MIA after a loss, or who suddenly grow a pair after a few wins.

My opinion stays the same. Wade is Wade, he will get you to sip then make ya choke. Until he proves me wrong, my opinion remains.

Who was worried owens was gone? Any one? Team chemistry means nothing:rolleyes: I do credit Jurha with tossing the garbage, ALL the garbage.

But it's only November, I'll wait and see just how well our coaches and GM did do in December. For this past week, nothing better than a W.

well both sides are indicitive of the IGS. a term i coined called the "instant gratification society". we've gotten things fed to us so fast the whole concept of waiting it out is nearly something people gasp at while walking through the smithsonian.

on of course a virtual tour they took from their house while waiting for dinner to heat up.

we see one thing, so it must flow through to a logical conclusion so let's worry about that now, or cheer about it now, and go.

that's simply how some people live and breathe. well, most it would seem.

after we lost the 1st game to the giants a very close friend of mine said "well we don't have to win the division to still make the playoffs". i'd get shot if i brought it up to him now that it was a tad premature to write off the cowboys.

just as it's a tad premature to get your superbowl tickets now.

the great lost art of patience is lost on so many today.

who emphatically make statements about...

Romo sucks as a QB?
Wade sucks as a coach?
The Cowboys can't replace T.O.'s production?
The Cowboys are a worse team w/o T.O.?

Do these people just quietly disappear into the shadows?
and then return at a later time trying to act like they never doubted?
or do they just immediately change their tone w/o acknowledging their stupid remarks?

I see some here make an "I was wrong" thread and good for them. But there have been alot more naysayers in the past 9 weeks than there are I-was-wrongers owning up to it now.

Not just here in the Zone but on TV and everywhere. Some of these people were really emphatic and combative with their statements. They need to eat it and eat it bigtime. I'm tired of the comments made so strongly without there ever being any accountability for it... that's why these comments are made to begin with. These people should be wearing a "scarlet letter" for the remainder of the season.

It's only week 10 and who knows what the Cowboys will be by season's end.
But Romo IS a top-knotch QB, no debate. Wade IS a hell of a coach and T.O.'s release IS an improvement to the team on all fronts and his production HAS been replaced entirely.

It's no worse than the ones who feel the need to make posts like this after a big win, or folks who get upset because prognosticators are not waving pom poms.

Extremes are a part of fandom. No side is any worse than the other - it's what makes the world go around. No one is in any greater a position to make a declarative statement about the future of this team now than they were when the Cowboys were 2-2.

Enjoy the ride. With the NFL, the potential for adversity is right around the corner.

Actually there are many who complain after a close win and spoil for a fight...like the KC game.

Also ther are extremists on both sides, you are correct...however you are incorrect when you say only one side gets called out on it.
