What if Brian really is the right guy, with the help of Eberflus. Who many fans wanted to be promoted to DC and then HC.
Eberflus can bring a toughness to the defense. As he did in Indy and Chicago. That can help the offense and they need it.

All fans wanted a younger HC, that could relate to the players better. Be somewhat innovative. Not saying that Schotty is that person.
But he is not a retread coach that many did not want anyway (but yet they complain Jerry did not go after any of them). Yes other candidates were out there. This seemed rushed all of a sudden after what seemed like Jerry was dragging his feet about it all.

But who are we fans to say who would be better, though we think we know. Moore? What qualifies Ben Johnson over anyone else, other than he actually has called plays with success for Detroit. But HC material, none of us knows. Carroll, Zimmer, Chucky?

I am not a big fan of this move. I did not like the way the FO went about this. We known their failures for years now. We will see how serious they are come FA to see if they are willing to actually improve the roster. Or is all of this for nothing, again.

I know what the answers and posts will be. Same old stuff that has been repeated 100 times in every thread.

So fellow Zoner's, here is a challenge. Think outside of that box in your head, and think ... what if he can be innovative and was held back by MM ...
Are we getting a innovative, outside the box OC? With players brought in to compliment his schemes? Or is Shotty gonna be the plain mundane defacto play caller or better yet ole Jerry relaying the plays from his luxury suite?

What if not participating in FA and only building through the draft is really the right approach to building a Super Bowl team.
We will find out in The next 4 years. If he does indeed last that long.
Maybe a certain QB will help. That is the most important thing. But someone needs to convince Jerry.

Well, i am sure fans will have opinions depending on the results. Their opinions may change to suit their agenda.

Let's see,
He has worked for 6 other NFL teams
And none saw headcoaching potential.
But , you know , our guys are smarter than anyone else , so great hire!
And there are many other coaches on this same boat. And it took years for others to get their chance as well.
But the double standards on here are much higher. Or is that much worse.

Have no ideal how this will end up. As for never being aa HC? so, McVay was never a HC until hired by the rams. He was OC of Washington before hired by Rams. So the notion that you somehow need HC experience is nonsense. What I think will be a big indicator of influence Schottenheimer has or does not have will be show in March with FA. If Cowboys sit pat then it will tell me he has none. I do like the fact that he values the run game now we need a top RB be it FA or draft

Sure, but the fact is Shott was on nobody's radar. Why not just keep MM who probably would have taken a 4 year deal. I don't think he walked b/c he wanted 5 and they offered 4. None of it makes sense or implies they had any kind of coherent plan.
High probability they told MM Schott would be taking over play calling. As we now see, this hire is mostly about Dak and his comfort level with B.S.

We will see right of the gate because with Dak at qb being a guy that can't run or escape, they will need a dominant running game to win. If we see them draft 2 good outstanding backs we will get the feeling that they know what they are doing.

I have no agenda. The needle for this hire didn't even move. Based on how they went about it or lack there of. If he succeeds then George Clooney can move out of the USA.

I'd settle for one in the draft that figures to be good. Plus Rico. Plus a decent mid tier free agent on a one yr deal.

He might be…..

No one including Commanders fans jumped when Quinn was hired it was a “meh, ok I guess” hire

And look at what he’s done

Same here but i guarantee you this team will be 8-9 next season with a bottom 10 offense and no free agency moves

Especially after that playoff game. Most on here were "Good riddance!" I don't think the Commanders fans expected their team to be playing to see who goes to the Super Bowl, especially knowing they would have a rookie QB starting.

Of course, one of the main differences between their situation and ours is that their front office truly went "all in" to get Quinn what he wanted. The main example that comes to mind for me is that Quinn wanted Bobby Wagner when he was here, but the Joneses wouldn't pay what it was going to take to get Wagner. Quinn goes to Washington and the Commanders get him Wagner.

We gave Quinn LVE again because he was cheaper. Then, everybody here blames Quinn for playing a safety at linebacker when LVE is lost to injury.

I think the Dallas Cowboys football team, the most valuable sports team in the world deserves a Head coach that is clearly at the top of their field and not a career assistant coach that has bounced around the league for years.

Honest question..........what proof you have he's not the right guy. He's never been a head coach so we know no more about him failing as Ben Johnson succeeding. Hell, no one knew how good Dan Campbell or Demarco Ryan would be but both have teams stacked with talent. You could be right but I saying we at this point we don't know.

BTW......as reminder, many did not want a rethread.

That's true, and I'm happy to give Schotty time and patience like I would our other coaches .
