He might be…..

No one including Commanders fans jumped when Quinn was hired it was a “meh, ok I guess” hire

And look at what he’s done

Same here but i guarantee you this team will be 8-9 next season with a bottom 10 offense and no free agency moves
If Dak is strong, 7-10. If not, 5-12. Tough schedule and a tough division. Lightweight GM.

What if Brian really is the right guy, with the help of Eberflus. Who many fans wanted to be promoted to DC and then HC.
Eberflus can bring a toughness to the defense. As he did in Indy and Chicago. That can help the offense and they need it.

All fans wanted a younger HC, that could relate to the players better. Be somewhat innovative. Not saying that Schotty is that person.
But he is not a retread coach that many did not want anyway (but yet they complain Jerry did not go after any of them). Yes other candidates were out there. This seemed rushed all of a sudden after what seemed like Jerry was dragging his feet about it all.

But who are we fans to say who would be better, though we think we know. Moore? What qualifies Ben Johnson over anyone else, other than he actually has called plays with success for Detroit. But HC material, none of us knows. Carroll, Zimmer, Chucky?

I am not a big fan of this move. I did not like the way the FO went about this. We known their failures for years now. We will see how serious they are come FA to see if they are willing to actually improve the roster. Or is all of this for nothing, again.

I know what the answers and posts will be. Same old stuff that has been repeated 100 times in every thread.

So fellow Zoner's, here is a challenge. Think outside of that box in your head, and think ... what if he can be innovative and was held back by MM ...
That's all we can hope for that we as fans are proven wrong.

You have a better chance of hitting the lottery every week than the Cowboys do of being successful next year

The only chance we have ( not sure I will see it in my lifetime)
Is that all of us stop spending
And stop buying tickets and merchandise

Jerry and his son don’t care about winning as much as they do the brand and th illusion of winning

If the cash train stops then he might sell the Team and then maybe they can change the culture and start winning

I can appreciate this post but there is no right guy as long as the wrong guy is in the press box

You must be forgetting how this place was towards Quinn after that GB loss. He was being run out of town for the performance of the defense.

It really didn't matter who they hired. This place is has become the crybabyzone.
Jerruh has given us a lot to cry about

The Cowboys have an aging QB who is injury prone. This team has a lot of holes that needs filled without a competent GM. They coudn't get far in the playoffs with Dak at his peak and a solid team. Now Washington has passed the Cowboys. Schottenheimer isn't going to make this team better.

Only when he does is fancy LV dance before games. But he points at the sky or clouds...he don't know...but his fans think he does.

This hire is an absolute joke.

This was all about continuity and the Jones’s being confortable.

This wasn’t about doing what is best for the Dallas Cowboys.

This is a joke.

None of this what if garbage. It’s a joke.
Agree, hard to have faith in anything this franchise does anymore.

We shall see. I suspect he has enough sense to arm himself with some good running backs.

We do not know yet his influence on any coaches that will be hired.
Who "buys the groceries"? Did that change? No. Will the culture change? Not likely. Still the same Front Office that undermines coaches. Schott could be the coach of the century and it won't matter one iota. I wasn't happy with the hire, but I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Who knows, maybe he'll have some success but overall he'll have the same troubles all of the coaches have had since Jimmy.

Fans rightfully have little to no hope until Jerry's out of the picture. Will Stephen be any better? Who knows? At least there's a chance there.

I hope Schottenheimer can at least manage to stress the importance of the O-line and also design things around Dak's strengths and avoid his weaknesses. Or whoever they bring in as OC if he's not doing the job.

"If" is the concerning word in all this.

He might actually be okay as a HC... problem is, we'll never know with the dysfunctional Jones circus in place. He's not even allowed to pick his own assistant coaches.

Jerry and Stephen think they're the head coaches. BS is just a glorified OC who gets to hold press conferences.
Perfectly said. He could be an amazing coach who finally got his chance but he’s pigeon hold to dak being qb and Jerry running the show. Nothing has changed in 30 years and look where we are. The fan base isn’t pissed at schottenheimer. It’s pissed at the jones.
