What if Brian Schottenheimer really is the right guy

What if Brian really is the right guy, with the help of Eberflus. Who many fans wanted to be promoted to DC and then HC.
Eberflus can bring a toughness to the defense. As he did in Indy and Chicago. That can help the offense and they need it.

All fans wanted a younger HC, that could relate to the players better. Be somewhat innovative. Not saying that Schotty is that person.
But he is not a retread coach that many did not want anyway (but yet they complain Jerry did not go after any of them). Yes other candidates were out there. This seemed rushed all of a sudden after what seemed like Jerry was dragging his feet about it all.

But who are we fans to say who would be better, though we think we know. Moore? What qualifies Ben Johnson over anyone else, other than he actually has called plays with success for Detroit. But HC material, none of us knows. Carroll, Zimmer, Chucky?

I am not a big fan of this move. I did not like the way the FO went about this. We known their failures for years now. We will see how serious they are come FA to see if they are willing to actually improve the roster. Or is all of this for nothing, again.

I know what the answers and posts will be. Same old stuff that has been repeated 100 times in every thread.

So fellow Zoner's, here is a challenge. Think outside of that box in your head, and think ... what if he can be innovative and was held back by MM ...
What’s important, field management, situational football.
Everything else is behind closed doors. The scheme, the opponents plan. Your assistant coaches.

Sure, you hope for the best. It's not like we can do anything about it.

But, if you want to objectively critique the decision making process, candidates available, and how they arrived at Brian Schottenheimer, it doesn't look good.
You know what ......right after the season I said any coach hired by Jerry for 2025 and so on will one mandate..........protect and get the most out of his three largest contracts on the team( Dak Lamb and Parsons ). Jerry want his return on investment and he doesn't have time to wait 5 years. This is why an outsider he's never worked with had no chance ( risk 1-2 years understanding each other ). It's not hard to see why this came down to Schotty and Eberflus IMO. Think ....Dak's $60m, Lamb's $40M and Parsons's $35-40M and how cheap Jerry is (lol)

He might actually be okay as a HC... problem is, we'll never know with the dysfunctional Jones circus in place. He's not even allowed to pick his own assistant coaches.

Jerry and Stephen think they're the head coaches. BS is just a glorified OC who gets to hold press conferences.
This exactly. I have nothing against the guy but the lack of effort and sincerity into finding the best man for the job by the jones’

We didn’t even consider talking Ben Johnson.

He’s had plenty of chances and failed as an OC. I highly doubt more pressure and more responsibility usually doesn’t make people better or qualified.

He doesn’t run motion, his offense hasn’t been good anywhere he’s been. He hasn’t even been top 5 in offense in his career. The guy just isn’t good. If they bring in a young OC or something I may change my mind but I’m sorry this hire is terrible. There is 0 chance he does well. Couple the fact that he hasn’t been good, he’s also going to have to deal with a cheap FO, a QB who’s falling apart, and a VP of player personnel who doesn’t spend or extend his players until the end of the window.

This is the worst possible thing that could have happened. And I haven’t even scratched the surface yet.
He has a lot of question marks, he's never been a HC, there's risk no doubt, but let's be fair.

As OC he was #1 and #4 with Dallas, #1 rushing offense '18 with Seattle, #6 overall offense.

He also led NY to two AFC Championship games with Mark Sanchez as QB, with the #1 rushing attack.

I’m pretty sure he was the only offensive coordinator in the NFL that didn’t get to call plays. Why didn’t he get to call please? Because the Cowboys felt like he needed to develop more and wasn’t good enough to call plays. So what do they do now? They make him the head coach of the team. Yeah that makes sense to me. This is the biggest joke yet.

I will say Jazz after seeing a lot of his interviews over the past two years I’ve come away super impressed by the way the guy speaks and his enthusiasm. In fact sometimes he sounds a lot like his dad. He sounds like a smart well rounded dude. I can see why they liked him. The problem is will they let him coach? They can’t hire a whole new coaching staff again and then sit out of FA. That does no favors for a new staff

Maybe he did call the plays during the weekly meetings. Just not on game day. remember Bill Walsh, would script the first 30 plays

Fans can go back-and-forth on the topic but time will either validate or vindicate Jerry Jones' latest head coaching decision. And like every one of Brian Schottenheimer's predecessors, it will be Jones heading the front office that will be supporting or not supporting him in the best way possible.

Personally, I believe Schottenheimer needs a Howie Roseman type GM to help make his tenure the best it can possibly be. And Jones ain't him. Never has.

See this is my problem. No one had ever heard of Nick Siriani either. But look at him now. Our FO sucks, and if they don’t spend on FA’s this staff will fail

The head coach here, has one job. Field management , situation football.
That’s it everything else is Handled by the Joneses, here’s your team make it work. How hard can it be lol if you understand the game. You can be a head coach on this team.
I mean, who else puts the scheme together, film room study. Understand your opponent. They weaknesses their strengths before the next game. I could go on and on, but this isn’t your normal franchise.

Anyone who thinks the Jones Bros can build a winning team is simply naive or optimistic. No coach is the correct coach with our front office. Brian is going to fail, because the organization is designed to fail at winning football.

I totally don’t agree with this. We’ve been cursed since we put Jimmy in the ring of honor. I blame the football gods not the Joneses lol. It takes a little bit of luck and referees to win in this league today. Another ridiculous statement. Or is it?

Siriani pointed out an upgrade was needed at running back in his offense. Or Roseman identified the missing component. Roseman acquired Saquon Barkley. The rest is history.

On the other hand, Derrick Henry was living in Dallas when Jones said, "Nah. Don't need him."

No one can make it make sense. There is 35 years of deja vu that should prevent it.
