I've let this sink in a bit and I've decided that this may be a weird blessing. #1 This gives Dak and the rest of the team some time to prepare and rally around Dak as opposed to a likely Romo injury during the season #2 This avoids the inevitable weird dynamic of any Romo struggles and pressure to see Dak. I can't even believe I typed that but I honestly felt like the promise and upside of Dak could have loomed somehow with Romo starting. To be clear, a healthy Romo should by all means be the guy but things could have been weird especially if Romo didn't play well. #3 Everyone else may play better to help Dak. #4 We'll be forced to run the ball. Our strength #5 For better or worse Dak has no "demons" or "warts" yet and he may infuse new life?
I could be reaching guys... just staying glass half full.

So much better than the "Romo should retire/shouldn't play again" which quite frankly are meaningless.
Agree with point #1... Heck of a lot better it happening now rather than in week 2 for example. The offensive coordinator can focus on those plays/schemes "Dak-friendly" as opposed to trying to stick with the "Romo-friendly offense".
True on point #2. Can you imagine what would happen if this offense struggled under Romo in the first game or two? And you're right a healthy Romo IS THE starter.
#3. Yep, I gotta think the team is much more behind him than Weeden or Cassel. Do I have proof of that? No, but I do have that feeling. I think most of the team knew Weeden was a dunce and wasn't going to have a long leash. Cassel's arm was shot–pure & simple. The (the team) has seen this kid do some amazing things this preseason and I think they'll be on board with him.
#4 Yes, lots of running but that was the plan anyway. I think you'll see a lot more play-action than with Romo which is a good thing IMO.
#5 The team is due for dose of "excitement". The rookie pair Prescott/Elliott may give this team a level of excitement it hasn't had in a while.
Hey if Dak implodes and they lose another 12 games... They lose another 12 games and go into the 2017 draft in prime position once again. I may not like that but I can live it...
Romo being injured makes for an uncomfortable season, but also a darned interesting season.
