I respect your statement it's a honor thing.
The news leaves me in the shock point now
and i dont know the smart move honestly.
But I'm convinced Dak is the future.
I dont want to get into another [evidence] pissing contest
its just my feelings at the late breaking news
Romo didn't get that contract to be a back up . If Romo can play, he starts.

He won't. My gosh you guys are insufferable. Really need to tap the brakes. 4-4 at best IMO but I'd love to be wrong. Real defenses in real games will be an eye opener for all the delusional fans out there. Pre season for God sakes...

This is the responsible post,my regards.
However, I dont think its unreasonable to look at Dak's short though pre-season] resume
and not be at least influenced by his numbers and attributes.
I do think your right about 4/4
it changes my outlook on the play offs but we'll see.

As I've said in the past, if a quarterback is special, then he's almost always competing for the job by the end of season 1, middle of season 2 at the latest. The model of a drafting a fourth round quarterback and then coaching him up as he carries a clipboard for three years and then he comes on and leads your team to a championship - that's rare. I think it's even more rare for a mid-rounder than a first-rounder. I've felt pretty strongly that if Dak is a special quarterback (and we don't know if he is yet) he would be the starter (or at least obviously should be the starter) by the end of the year.

Unless Dak is an abject failure, he's the QB this year and with luck beyond that. Romo in Dallas is quite likely done. You'd have to be some kind of mentally deficient to think otherwise.

If Dak starts the season 6-2 and is playing well he remains the starter. Rimo has not played much so the last thing we need is to rush him back and see a Carolina Panthers disaster. It's that simple.. Dak plays well he stays it's just that simple.

It should be that simple. But in Dallas, decisions are sometimes made on sentiment rather than rationality.

Tony is not coming back, too risky, he has a family to think about and has plenty of money.

Man, I agree, but I don't know. His wife was sobbing in the press box after his injury last year and he's still trying to come back.

well anyway the statement that Romo can play four more years is fallacious at this point.
If Dak preforms at a respectable level his time as starter it certainly advances his becoming the future starter.
I dont like this anymore then others but at some point

The idea is goofy of not putting Romo back in.

So if Witten got hurt and Swaim played well do we keep Witten on the bench effectively putting him out to pasture?

All the players appreciate the teams loyalty and understand that an injury doesn't cost a superstar their job. Especially the face of the franchise.
Players know they are promised nothing. Romo is aware that he costs 14m a season and Dak is <1m. Do you remember Montana and Young? Happens even to FBHOF superbowl winning QBs. Manning and Luck?

I do remember Montana and young. Dak wouldn't be young after 8 games. And it took much longer for young to replace Montana.

Let's put this in perspective. Dak is a rookie and Romo is the 2nd or 3rd highest passer rating of all time.

Zero chance Romo is treated that way regardless of how good Dak does.

In simple language, our rook is gonna need a pass defense. The top 10 defenses according to that stat averaged 11 wins last year, no matter who their QB was.
That;s why QBR means little to me, what was Manning's in 2015, Johnson's in 2003, Dilfer's in 2000 and McMahon's in 85? It is all about one thing, TEAM and we do not have it yet. Roger and Troy were great because they had great D's.

I just don't see why he can't do that well or better. This season should be about our running game regardless who our QB is. Timely throws to Dez and lets get rolling. I just hope we design the offense around Dak now, more zone read etc. he has wheels let's use them!!
I would be more inclined to agree if our d didn't suck so badly

There are two QB's in every game, Señor Sofá.

Defensive Passer Rating (league rank)
2015 Broncos 4th
2003 Bucs 6th
2000 Ravens 3rd
1985 Bears 1st
