I love the idea of utilizing a KO specialist. This has been an issue of mine for some time now. Couldn't understand how our team couldn't find someone who had a strong enough leg to consistently kick-off into the end zone.
I've believed for some time now that this skill is worth a roster spot. The fact that the guy is an actual kicker who in a pinch might give you a legit shot at very very long field goal is just a bonus.
Can't understand the debate on the guy's athleticism. Sure he's not a legit player, but he certainly gives you more than any other kicker I can think of.
As far as the value of consistent kick-offs into the end zone. This could become a trend going forward.
One thing I think most of you guys are missing relative to the value of a KO specialist.
Our kicker is poor on his KOs. This places a bit of a premium on a KO specialist for us.
