What is Dak's Trade Value?

I just think people are over valuing Dak. He's a good QB, but that's about it. Nothing special. But teams do pay a lot for that. Look at Kirk Cousins as an example. I like Dak over him any day of the week, and I'm not a big Dak fan. Look at what Tannehill got. It all depends on what teams are looking to accomplish.

Clearly teams like the Eagles and Rams are going for championships. Cowboys, Ravens, Cardinals, maybe not. Just looking to have a playoff team.

It’s beyond hypothetical to where it’s not worth discussing, and I usually know better and stay out of these threads.

I realize he hasn’t won enough here as of yet, but there are a ton of teams that he would be a major upgrade on, and the cost would be high.

It’s doesn’t much matter what something’s value is when there’s no shot the owner sells it.

If there’s another 2-3 years of nothing but bad playoff losses, maybe it’s best for both sides to move on, but he isn’t going to be easy to replace, and it’s likely that at least a few seasons are thrown away on it.

After building what is looking like a very good defense and being lucky enough to retain the coordinator, I can’t for the life of me understand why some want to just blow it up and get rid of the QB.
I am not saying blow it up for a different QB. I do think they can win with Dak. However if another 2 to 3 years of playoff losses. They entire team would need to be blown up. To many aging players and high cap hits with all the new contracts coming up in the next few years.

If Howie Roseman was trading Dak, he’d use his Satan powers and get two 1st’s, a second, two 3rd’s, and pick swaps for rounds four and five.

For everyone else, probably a 1st, a 3rd, a 4th, and a solid starter. Dak doesn’t have an impressive playoff resume nor have a first round pedigree that could artificially pump up his value.

I think the Browns are going to regret that Watson contract.

Do the research. Seahawks got 2 firsts, two 2nds, a 5th, Noah Fant, Drew Lock and a DT all for Wilson.

Wilson was older and way past his prime.

Texans got 3 first round picks for Desaun Watson. Watson was out of football for a year and a half and was in legal trouble with the league.

And dont even bother telling me that Watson or an old Wilson are better than Dak in his prime.

Cowboys might be able to get more than I said depending on when they traded him. If it was in the next two years for sure.
I would respectfully disagree . Wilson is an ex sb champ and mvp. Watson I can’t wrap my head around why Cleveland was that dumb

Ok maybe you’re right if we could trade with Cleveland their fronnofficw is dumb enough

Dak as much as like him hasn’t done jack to warrant that kind of draft capital

Probably like a 3rd when he doesn't play well this season and probably ends up missing a few games with an injury at some point.

There would be some team stupid enough to trade for him. A sucker is born everyday.
I'm shocked it took you a whole 10 minutes to reply to a Dak thread with a negative comment....wait......hang on......usual.

Do you A) have anything other to do with your time
Or B) ever post on this site on something other than Dak.

I'm getting to be an old man but just seeing your Avatar and name crop up annoys the **** out of me. I've taken a while to say it bit decided today is the day to snap.

At the time Watson was traded, he was regarded as a top 5ish QB at 26(?) years old. I would have been scared away by the off the field stuff, but the Browns apparently weren’t.

Compare that to Dak, where people are throwing parades here every time a pundit’s list slips him into the top 10
Yes timing is everything. The original topic was talking about if Dak doesn't do good this season (either health performance or both) what could you haul for him. Wilson had good timing as well, he had just made 5 straight pro bowls and had been to 2 superbowls, Denver was 100% sold on him being the final piece.

I read an article of writer stating a team (rumor) would think about trading for Dak if he doesn't play well this season and make noise in the playoffs. Good or bad season, what is Dak's trade value in your eyes, what would you give as an NFL team to get him?
If we trade Dak because he doesn't play well...?

Well you think he'd have any trade value in that scenario?

I don’t think Daks contract makes him tradeable

If he had a more friendly deal, I could see us getting top picks if we wanted to go that route

True, it would be not a great deal with either team. Cowboys eat 60 million in dead cap and the team that trades for him (post 2023) only gets him on a one-year rental for 29 million.

In the original scenario of him not playing great this upcoming season I don't see a team trading elite capital/picks for only a 1 year prove it deal.

I think that's a Cowboys QB thing though. It's impossible not to be a celebrity when you're the Cowboys Quarterback.

The premise is....Dallas should consider trading Dak if he doesn't play well this season....and doesn't do well in the playoffs. (I.e. a repeat of last year)

Let's evaluate.

He'll be 31 before the season begins next year. He will have come off back to back poor seasons...and back to back poor playoff showings. He led the league in INTs last year...and pick 6s...by a good margin despite missing a 3rd of the season (quote the feat). He would have followed THAT up with another bad season (2023). He'll also be looking for another contract.

2 bad seasons in a row.
Past the 30 year old line.
Poor playoff performer.
Wants money.

A GOOD negotiator might be able to rip someone off for a mid 2nd rounder....perhaps a team like the Jets with a strong roster, but needing to take a chance to get some kind of Qab that at least has a chance to be good. Or perhaps a team like Philly built to win it all right now...who'd want Dak as a backup

That's the Perfect Storm. Realistically though...a 3rd.... or a 4th.

But a lot of teams would have zero interest.

Serious question: hypothetical situation.. Dak unexpectedly decides he wants to quot football and go help little kids in some poor country. Great....wonderful person..blah blah blah we have NO quarterback.

We have a team ready to win...and want a QB with real experience (sorry Rush)

Minnesota offers us Kirk Cousins in a trade.

What are you, as a Cowboy fan....comfortable giving up for Kirk Cousins?

Actually, we are not. However, people are grossly undervaluing the value of a top 15 starting QB in the NFL. The barest minumum value for Dak is a 1st.
