They did and Mo had his best year thus far. I don't know if that's a coincidence or a sign. Carr, we wasted his best years trying to fit him in a scheme that didn't suit him IMO. I think Carr can be useful but I also think his best playing days are behind him.

I think the lack of interest from other teams may have motivated him a little and he even played through some bumps and bruises . It is amazing how he stepped it up when money was on the line.. He seems mentally weak to me . He lost his confidence after his rookie year and he doesn't have the one thing that good CBs have, a short memory. I watched a ton of his college games and he was never the ballhawk that fans said he was.

It all started with Mike. Now most of the board has been bitten and are Winicki walkers.

Can't win a game because your QB's bones are like pretzels? Need more cornerbacks.

Get down with that sickness.

Even if Zeke succeeds beyond anyone's wildest imagination this team doesn't win jack without Romo.

So maybe start building a defense so the team isn't completely dependent on those pretzels?

We need our offense to be great (Romo and Zeke) and have a defense that can generate a consistent pass rush, without giving up big plays. Until then.

But if we continue to ignore the defense with premium picks, there will never be an "until then." Even drafting Smith this year, he may not even be in top shape health-wise before Romo is gone.

This idea that we can just keep loading up on Olineman and RBs is not going to win anything. It's just going to delay the inevitable.

This year our d wouldn't have made that jump to elite even with a so called premium pick.

Of course not. But a Romo/Dez/decent RB offense is already elite. Zeke us a luxury.

At some point you need to start meaningfully trying to build the defense.

Have you looked at Tyrann's college stats? Do and get back to me.

Tyrann was a 3rd round pick because he got kicked out LSU. (LSU!)

I know all about him. LSU is on the TV every week here. He made plays which is something that Ramsey didn't do:

Believe that if you want, but its simply not the case.

The three interceptions tells me what've need to know. It is no secret that he has stone hands. I am pretty sure that he is not close to Sanders. Sanders was the GOAT.

So all that you looked at was the 3 picks? Ok, makes sense why you have no clue about the player.

Take a look at these highlights. The guy is everywhere. Its not just about interceptions. He would have been the absolute leader of our defense. Gets in your face. Tackels, stripping the ball, breaking up plays, picks, sacks, rushing the passer. There is NOTHING this cat doesnt do well.

Ramsey and Henry would have been just fine. Heck, I would taken Ramsey and Smith and been fine with that.

Now if Smith comes back and is a pro bowl middle linebacker for us I will have no complaints.

If they took Ramsey, Smith, and the 3rd and 4th round DE and DT, then our defense is nearly done. Pass rusher would be the only thing lacking. Either use a first round pick next year on a DE, hope that Gregory develops, or go out in FA and sign one. Some great RB's coming out next year.

If he could get a good jam on you, and he was very good at that, he has the ability to use his body and long arms to breakup plays. He has good ball skills, he just needs to be physical to be able to use them. In space, he is not nearly as good but he has improved since the LSU days. As I said, I never liked the pick. I liked the player but not at 6 overall and not in a trade up.

We really did have a chance to set the defense up nicely. Ramsey/Robinson/Bullard/Tapper/Booker would have been a dream come true for me. :(

Yep, we blew it. Plain and simple. I love Zeke, but by time we have a chance to get this defense good enough to win it all I fear that Romo will be toast and Zeke will 4 year into his rookie contract. And we will be looking for a QB to groom.

the draft could've went in numerous directions, the only player at #4 that i would've considered over Zeke, would've been Bosa, but since SD took him, it was between Zeke and Ramsey, and since we took the same player last year in Jones, i preferred Zeke, the rest will be history.

Romo's never gonna have a defense do all the work for him a la Peyton last year in the twilight of his career. Pretty sad all this time the defense has been mediocre and stayed that way throughout his entire career.

Even with Ramsey turning out to be a great player, the secondary would still be weak at the spot he isn't playing and need another big time player. With how it is now........ yeah pretty sure any opposing offense has just a good a chance at chewing up clock converting every third down as we do with Zeke.
