What is wrong with Romo?

Which is funny, since all you heard in the off-season is how he's going to start having more say in the offense.

i find it hard to believe he's on board with what they're doing. When you have a defense that's on pace to give up an NFL record 5000 passing yards and over 40 TD's you have to be aggressive offensively. I'm all for running the ball but it does keep your score down and this teams needs to score a lot of points to overcome it's defense that can't stop anyone. The Cowboys can barely afford not to score on every possession when twice this season the opposing teams punter never had to step on the field.

When does the "Cool story" response stop being cool or has it already? dun, dun, dun....

Now for my serious response:

Don't get me wrong...no one likes to lose, especially Romo. But at some point, I think you get callused to it. It doesn't sting like it used to. And when that happens, it's very hard to approach the game the same. Just a guess. I'm sure my guess isn't as good as yours, but it's mine for what it's worth.

Are you contradicting yourself? First you say he lost his "want to win". Then, "no one likes to lose, especially Romo".

If you are a competitor, like most of these athletes are, you never get used to losing. And I don't think Romo is a loser, I just think the team is around him is not helping him out, and he does his part in losing by trying to compensate.

And, Romo better come out these next 3 games and just lay down the freaking law! Int's and all...just go out and let the chips fall as they may, because that is all he can do at this point in time.

He's playing smart football. I'm all for this "new Romo".

He realizes he's 33 and isn't as athletic as he used to be.

He also realizes that at age 33 he's more prone to getting injured if he does take a big hit, so he's avoiding those. Took him less than 1 half of football in Week 1 to be reminded of that. And without Romo, this team has no chance.

Finally, he realizes that he must protect the ball better if we're going to ever be a great team. 22 turnovers last year, 8 turnovers this year. Mission accomplished.

Now if only we could field a decent defense.

So we have a 33 year old QB that is aging and not like a fine wine or anything, is scared to take hits, is scared to make tough throws, and without this guy our team has no hope for the future? Sounds like he is falling apart right along with our other veterans I.E. Ware & Witten. Time to start looking for his replacement.

You act like our offense is in perfect shape and all we need is a defense. Our offense looked like total crap the other night with the exception of Murray. Heck, our offense hasn't done jack since the Denver game. Romo throws for 100 yards and you are excited?

Everyone knows you hate Romo so no one pays any attention to your posts on the subject.

The defense has given up over 30 points in 5 of the Cowboys 6 losses. In 3 of their 6 losses the defense gave up 45 points or more.

then you need to start airing it out to keep up. cant wait till you're down 3 scores to attempt to play catchup with 5:00 left on the clock.

Yes we all know that without Romo this team would probably win only 3-5 games a year. But with him we're only winning 8 games! If you go 8-8 every year you get a bad draft position and no playoffs either. That is the worst case scenario imo. At least when you're 3-13 you get top talent in the draft to build on. Look at KC they were horrible for years but were able to get top draft picks and then they got themselves a good coach and a pretty good QB in the offseason. I'd rather take 3-4 years of the Cowboys being really bad but getting high draft picks then being 8-8 every year missing the playoffs and not getting a good draft position.

I stopped reading after the bolded part above. Romo is not the only player on this team! He does not draft, he does not coach, he does not play defense, he does not cheerlead, he does not give out water, he does not clean the stands after games. He is one guy on a TEAM.

When the defense doesn't generate TOs like it didn't against the Bears, we look like garbage offensively... we got one TO against the Saints, and that on special teams, and we could't core from 25 yards out. But we got three points boost up our offensive scoring output...

I never said he was the only guy on the team geez! I was quoting someone who said that without him we'd only win 3 games.

I would love if he did that but hell if he throws an INT, then all hell will break loose on this board

You act like he didn't lead the league with Brees last year in interceptions or that he wasn't the weakest link vs. Washington with his 3 ints that sent the Cowboys home for the playoffs. We have the opposite of that this year, but we actually need something in between.

The system is somewhat flawed and simplistic. But there are many opportunities for big plays that are missed by the qb and wr's.

Romo doesnt take chances like he use to, and almost always settles for the safe play. Watching the nfl ALL 22 gives a much better understanding of how many misreads romo makes. Instead of throwing for a gain of 20, he'll throw for a gain of 5 and Dallas has to punt. Doesn't necessarily show up on stat sheet but it greatly affects the momentum of the entire team.

Romo is a family man now......on and off the field.
I think he has played it safer but I am glad that he has the slinger in him come playoff time.
