good moves by mavs today for sure but summer grade appears to hinge on brand. you get brand and things look pretty nice after that abysmal whiff on deron.

dirk/brand/kaman is an absolutely sick big man tandem and wright as the 4th big is a young developing athlete.

collison is a young pg with a bright future. he already has playoff experience and has the goods athletically. he is a bit like tony parker at the same age. i.e. super quick and solid defensively with a developing shot.

dahntay jones is a weird stevenson type player. hated everywhere but his home city. annoying defender.

kaman is a quality post player; especially offensively. by far best offensive center dirk has played with... unless the mavs get brand.

Get Brand and this is a B+ off-season. That's a top 4 seed team with only 17m committed next year. You could easily be in the bidding for any star traded at the deadline. Lots of expirings to dangle and lots of cheap, young players whose value sky rockets under this CBA starting 2013.

teams of preference: anyone with fave teams list like cowboys, yankees, lakers is gonna be laughed at. it just is what it is. no one with that line up of teams has paid any dues as a fan but instead picked traditional winners. like whomever you want but its pointless being sensitive about being called a front runner while following those teams without real affiliation. accept it and move on.

idle time: look when i was 18 i was graduating high school then a freshman at texas tech. i couldn't be bothered to use the phone to call my parents, wouldn't log on a computer pt even do homework much less follow any message board.... at 18 chasing girls was a full-time gig. i played football, video games and ate and that was about it for hobbies other than girl chasing. all that said this is a different era. i'd prolly be using twitter/facebook/instagram to meet chicks nowadays. so it is what it is. i will say this. i regret zero of that chick chasing time. one can spend plenty of time on message boards when they are old and half-dead my advice is get to chasing. havent met an old codger yet who regrest time he wasted chasing girls.

no the mavs haven't... not yet but it is getting fairly close.

kidd, jet, ian. those are very good pieces to have. kidd is still a better pg than collison though you'd rather not play him more than 25 mpg.
jet is far superior to jones.

kaman is superior to ian but not by as much as you'd think.

dallas got a 1 year lease on these guys to keep their powder dry. but they are a 6 seed without brand and still losing in r1... even with dirk playing better.

get brand and that changes dramatically. brand was excellent on defense last year (especially at the C spot). something people don't realize.

Dallas clearly upgraded. Kidd sucks now he should've retired. Collision is a legit starting PG. Kaman when healthy is one of the best centers in the league. Terry is a huge loss, but Roddy B. can replace his production if healthy. Mahimi or whatever his name is a serviceable backup at best. Jones is a terrific defender. If Dallas gets one more piece like Brand than they're probably the 4th best team in the West after OKC, San Antonio, and the Lakers. It's hard to see them winning the West, but when you have a legend like Dirk anything is possible.

I agree. Roddy B wont match JET's offense though, but his defense is far superior. This is Roddy's year to show everybody what he's got so we'll see. If we re-sign Delonte and snag Brand then I will be very happy with our lineup. Mahinmi is a good player though. Labeling him as serviceable is kind of an injustice to him I feel. He needs to improve, but he is solid. Regardless, we won that trade.

Kaman averaged 13 ppg last season though. Brand is a double digit guy as well.

Kaman is a good low post scorer. Him and Dirk also played together on Germany team. Collison will average 15-18ppg. We get Brand we have a damn good front court. We need to resign DWEST.

Collison is probably around 10-15 ppg. 15 being his max.

With Kaman in the fold, however, I'm not sure where Brand fits. He's really a power forward.
I guess he can rotate Brand, Dirk, and Kaman if he has to and keep them all fresh.

I'm skeptical of the Brand thing. I haven't heard anything from really reliable sources that say he is very likely to be here.
