This is a great pickup for Dallas. Kaman is an All Star caliber player when healthy.

im glad they signed him, hopefully we can get the brazilian center now that they wont be looking for a center

Never. Just because he likes those teams don't mean he's a bandwagoner, you have proof he jumps when going horrible and flips teams?

I like Dal and LA and been with them from day one. You like whoever you like, everyone has their reasons. Hate on.

I've never jumped ship from Lakers or Cowboys, whether it's going good or bad. Annoying to hear people say you're a bandwagoner and they don't even know you, CLF in this case.

Cowboys, Lakers, Braves, and Tar Heels are my teams. Interesting combo I root for.

well apparently Chris Kayman is next for the Mavs. For a 1 year $8M deal I won't complain. If they were going to pay some middle of the road guy the $40M they should have offered Chandler I'd be pretty upset.

Yeah

I'm fine with that for a year. He's not a bad player and they aren't hurting themselves long-term.
This could mean adios to Haywood and his big contract.

The Brendan Haywood era is officially over in Dallas. :laugh2:

Well that was not unexpected at all. It was never really a good contract. Not that Haywood is a bad player or bad guy or anything but he's not a quality starting center imo, he's too slow to be a great defender and he has almost no offensive game.

Now the Mavs pull a rabbit from out of their hat and get the following:

Indiana will acquire Ian Mahinmi (4-years, 16 million) in a sign and trade with Dallas. Darren Collison and Danhtay Jones go to Dallas.

Now things aren't looking so bleak if they get Brand, which by all reports so far, they will. Plus resign West..

Collison/West/Cunningham (roookie)
West/Carter/Jones/Roddy
Marion/Crowder (rookie)
Dirk/Wright
Kaman/Brand/James (rookie)

PLUS, tons of expiring contracts for trades with talent that someone might actually want!!

Collision
Jones
Brand
Kaman
Carter
Roddy
DoJo
Wright

The new labor deal impacts really kick in hard next summer.
With the swing and miss on DWill you can see the wheels spinning right now.
As most of us know at this point, they want to field a semi-respectable team this year and try one more time for big hits next summer.

They have never had cap space really in the last 10 years, so Cuban/Nelson are trying to make the most of it while they can.
But it's frustrating for us Mavs fans this season in any case.

With Kaman in the fold, however, I'm not sure where Brand fits. He's really a power forward.
I guess he can rotate Brand, Dirk, and Kaman if he has to and keep them all fresh.

In any case, how anyone could ever think these guys did not have a plan B, C, D, E, F is beyond me. Dumb they are not.
Can't say I agree with all of their moves, but you know plenty of thought has been put into them for both short and longer term impacts.
