We let him go? Go back and look at the draft order and see if you can come up with an intelligent post.

LOL. I knew this would be the excuse used once he proves he's the GOAT.

The Cowboys passed on Wentz. Both the 1st and 2nd picks in the draft we're available, the Cowboys had the best positioning of any other team with the exception of the Chargers who didn't need a QB, and they decided to pass.

He didn't turn the ball over. That's good. His rating was 69. That's not going to win many games.

No, the dropped passes killed his rating along with all penalties in the second half forcing him into "pass all the time mode".

Let's keep it real. If T-Wil gets out of bound...we make the kick....the grades and evaluations of Dak would be 100x more generous than they've been in this thread. We are all in a bad mood right now.

I thought he was super. Superb for his first game. As others have mentioned he didn't get a lot of help from his receivers.

I do wonder how he'll do when he doesn't have such a clean pocket...but that's true of most quarterbacks.

No doubt. Still doesn't make sense to make some kinda weird declaration that Romo was hard to watch for years. Romo was about as instant sensation as you can get.

Granted he was a sensation much like Dak is at this juncture. Let's also be mindful that Romo had a better defense to back him up back then.

Yep, he may become a decent backup some day. He overthrew wide open receivers all day. You should have known his hype was too good to be true when Jerruh endorsed him.

Did he not have a 100+ QB rating?

One thing not remarked upon ..... why didn't we run him more? Did he have only one designed run? And he got 9ish on it. He's not super fast, but he does appear to be able to get around the corner.

There was a notable difference in what we saw in Philly and what we saw in Dallas today.

And that was a division 2 guy with barely a preseason.
Like the other players on the Eagles & offensive playbook

For two 1st round picks+? No thanks. The kid isn't that special. We'll see what he looks like against a few actual NFL defenses.

Instant sensation who cannot win a playoff game. Much less rarely get there.

Today he cannot even finish a game. He's pointless to discuss at this point.

Impressive in the sense it was his first game but not much else other than that. He's got limitations to his game that I don't know will ever not be an issue. The reason why we couldn't run the ball was because Dak couldn't throw the ball down the field. You can chalk it up now as a rookie and that's okay but he wasn't very good at in college either.

I had to listen on the radio driving home from vacation, but the national radio guys said the same thing. Everyone knows he has no deep game and in the NFL if you can't go deep and keep them honest, your name better be Tom Brady or Joe Montana. Two of the only guys I can think of that didn't really have to go deep they were so accurate.

The bad news is that his throwing mechanics fizzled as the game went along.

yep

the deep throws looked horrible.

I do think he played against a team that was possessed to not let a preseason hot shot beat them.

Need to see more

He was wildly inaccurate in the second half. The way he played today in the second half should put to bed all the romo isn't the starter here.

If Romo plays today we win this game. If romo plays today dez bryant is part of the game, if romo plays today our running game is much better.

He has great potential and could be a great player in a couple of years but the second half showed today why we will not win games right now with him.

We are lucky he didn't get witten and beasley injured with some of the throws today they were so bad.

Romo barely won last year's opener, and that was with a come from behind touchdown, so I don't see what Romo would have done that would have been so different... and that was to a Giant's team prior to them investing a ton of money into their defense. Dak has done enough to win games. How has he not showed enough to win games when we were a Terrance Williams sideline and a Dan Bailey fieldgoal away from winning?

Just remember last year what we looked like without Romo. Dak looked poised and confident and there is no doubt in my mind he's the future. He's a rookie for crying out loud.

I remember, and had I forgotten I just saw it again to refresh my memory. Yes, Dak is a rookie, and it says a lot that he's as good as Weeden right now. But that's where he is. He's playing on a Weeden level. I have to assume he's going to be good or very good down the line since that's where he's starting, but I'm not going to pretend that he's great today and everyone else was at fault.

to be fair the throw to beasley was bad. If he throws that in front of him its a walk in td...he threw up and behind him as he did the whole second half.

HIs scouting reports said he struggled with accuracy and you could see today that is his flaw. He has everything but the ability to throw with accuracy on a consistent basis.

Dez should have caught the other ball. No question but that first one to beasley is on dak.

If dak is this inaccurate going forward he is going to get our wr/te hurt. you can't throw behind guys, you just can't.

Unfortunately I agree. I'd go as far as to say nearly his entire portfolio is based on his red-zone work, particularly inside the 10. He's a great touchdown scorer from up close. But he's never been all that vital to the game plan between the 20s.

I don't see how his career doesn't end badly. He's developed none of the skills that will allow him to be productive when he can no longer win on athletic ability.

One team was playing the Browns
Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding!

No, Prescott wasn't awesome, but he certainly hasn't eliminated himself from being the future starter. And congrats to Carson Wentz for being the Browns.

Could have easily had at least 2 pics. Those overthrows in the middle of the field won't always hit the ground. I thought he played well, considering.
He certainly didn't play Romo out of a job though. He clearly needs to sit and watch for a couple years. Hopefully Romos backbone doesn't turn to jelly this soon
