Flip the teams. Do you think Philly beats NYG and we lose to the Browns? Wentz did well today. Won't knock the kid, but he lined up against South Dakota State today and we played, well, an NFL team.

I think Wentz make more plays down the field on the Giants, yes. While Dak looks the same. Ride the bus. Keep it close. Hope to hit a FG at the end to win it.

I'd give Wentz an A today and Dak no higher than a C. His demeanor is excellent. He's already proven to me the NFL isn't too big for him. I just think he lacks talent that Wentz doesn't lack. Notably arm talent. Touch. Accuracy. Had the Eagles receivers not dropped half a dozen balls today Wentz would have had an unreal debut.

Yeah, a comparative analysis of competition between the Giants $100 million dollar revamped defense and the Browns complete disaster and horrid fire sale defense!

I even like Wentz as a prospect but this is complete stupidity to think the competition level is anywhere near the same between these two teams!

Wentz played well against the Browns, we will see soon how he plays against these same Giants!

Wentz scored 8 more points than Dak Prescott playing one of the worst teams in the recent history of the league and enjoyed a defense that kept the opposition to 7 points. Dak plays against a tough divisional rival that ALWAYS plays us tough and one in which we only beat by one point on a come from behind victory last year. If Terrance Williams went to the sidelines, we very well win that game on a Dan Bailey field goal.

I feel ok about Prescott but he's kind of a better Weeden at this point. He is going to need to add deep and intermediate passes to his repertoire and challenge the safeties better. His deep ball either sails too much or is too fast. Needs something in the middle.

I'm happy with him as a backup for now. We win that game with Romo or a better run defense.

It's clear he's the long-term answer. That's all that matters. You really couldn't ask for better from him.

Hopefully the team can string together a few wins before Romo gets back.

I disagree. Nothing today indicated that he's the long term answer. I saw QC, Hutch, Stoerner, Weeden, and Cassel out there today.

What I saw today from Wentz and Dak are exactly what I saw on each one's college game film. Dak has poise and leadership. He's great throwing to the slot receiver and on short stuff. He can run, but he's not especially fast.

Wentz throws the ball accurately short and long with terrific ball placement. That first touchdown was just brilliant - placed right where his receiver could make the play and the defender couldn't.

You saw Brandon Weeden and Matt Cassell in a rookie who almost beat long time divisional rivals in the giants who ALWAYS play us tough and who invested vast amounts into their defense? You saw that in a rookie that would have won if his receiver knew how to get out of bounds?

He was ok, he took what the defense gave him. He didnt do anything particularly outstanding to help the team win, but also didnt do anything to lose the game. He was a game manager today, a decent one that didnt get a ton of help from his WRs.

I liked what I saw from Dak today, however, there is still lot of room to grow, but he did well, it's up to Coaching staff to develop him futher

agree but he is still a rookie who cam from a RPO 100% shotgun offense.Even Romo took 3 years to develop.

My impressions of him were that I do not look forward to facing him twice a year for the next 10 plus years. Was he perfect? Of course not but what QB is. He will grow into a very good QB. When I first saw him I thought, RGIII. But this guy is a pure pocket passer. As he learns more, it will open things up more. The deep ball didn't seem to be much of a threat. Once he gets that into his game, this offense is going to be lethal. Good game. See you guys in NY!
I appreciate the honest assessment from someone who isnt a fan.

Honestly I cant believe the negative feel of this thread. Dak was not the reason we lost today. I'm very pleased with his play. He nearly put us in a chance for a game winning field goal. He is a RoOKIE!! Going up against a veteran QB with 2 super bowl wins and 200 million defense. People are in a negative mood because of the loss, I get that. But Dak is cool, protects the ball and I look forward to when he gets more experience to make those 20 yd throws to receivers. Our vaunted offensive line is overrated. Did Dak allow the play clock to run out? Did he make any bone headed picks?

I feel very comfortable with Dak at QB. We would have won today if we played the Browns like Wentz did.

Oh one more thing, what is the deal with Dez and the catches he makes? Why do they always have to be sideline, reviewable, complicated passes?? I guess that's more of a coaching thing.

I'm more concerned we burned a top5 pick on a rb who does everything well but nothing great

Expecting a rookie to come in for his first NFL start and be great is premature. Maybe we could allow him to play in more games before passing judgment. Granted, Zeke's performance was nothing to crow about but one game isn't enough to get an accurate impression of his talent level. I'm fairly sure the Giants were keying on him and he might have been tense to boot. Hopefully, his future performances may serve to vindicate his less than thrilling initial performance.

He didn't get a lot of help. A couple throws I am sure he'd like to have back but he didn't make any major mistakes (fumbles/dumb sacks/int's). He would've had a much better game statistically had some of his WR's helped him out.. He has promise, he's a 4th round QB rookie. I am still amazed he looked this good out of the gate.

Yeah. I was not pleased with the amount of shotgun they ran today.

I think I like him getting a couple of games under his belt then spending the rest of the season studying and improving. He needs to be able to run everything and continue to improve throw mechanics. I think he has the brain and instincts to do it, just needs work. He sees the field better than Weeden.

I saw Dak make some great throws today that were dropped and some great throws two weeks ago (Td's) against the starting Seattle defense so I can't buy it. Not yet anyway.

Sure. No argument. Romo is the better man at this point. Prescott is a raw college student. I am only saying...he played well...everything considered. I honestly thought the Giants would eat him for a snack. It was close and he didnt humiliate himself or the Club. That was a positive. I imagined much worse!!

Agreed. He didn't humiliate himself or the fan base. I think he gives us a slightly better chance to win than Weeden or Cassel gave us last year. But if you could have blurred out the face and the number I didn't see much different than what we trotted out there last season. Just good enough to lose. The thing he has going for him is that he's young and has time to improve. But he was just as much as a check down machine as the guys last year were. The Giants said it early in the week: they were going to make Dak Prescott beat them. They loaded up against the run and Dak never capitalized when he faced the blitz. That's to be expected, to be honest. But the fact remains, the opposing teams' game plan is no different than it was a year ago when Romo was out. They don't respect what we have going on behind center and they're going to load against our running game. Our QB has to beat them. It will be even worse next week. The Commanders are going to tee off on this kid, big time.

Dak was NOT horrible by any stretch of the imagination today but he WAS inaccurate at crucial junctures. Everyone wants to blame Beasley for that drop but an accurate throw in front of him instead of a high throw behind him makes that a TD. Ditto on some of the passes over the middle. Dak would have gotten Beasley beheaded had he caught one of those. Ditto on the pass to Dez in the endzone. Better ball placement makes that a TD. He has a solid base to work with and that's exciting but those who were ready to send Tony to the nursing home as a trade in for Dak Prescott look pretty stupid, right now.
