What were your impressions of Prescott

There was a notable difference in what we saw in Philly and what we saw in Dallas today.

And that was a division 2 guy with barely a preseason.

Yeah, one was playing the Browns and the other has Jason Garrett for a head coach.

Impressive in the sense it was his first game but not much else other than that. He's got limitations to his game that I don't know will ever not be an issue. The reason why we couldn't run the ball was because Dak couldn't throw the ball down the field. You can chalk it up now as a rookie and that's okay but he wasn't very good at in college either.

I think you are way off base with your assessment of his performance today, and his performances in college.

He took what they gave him. Protected the ball, and moved the ball and kept in front of the chains.

Two plays were what caused this to be a loss and not a shot at winning it .

Last drive.

Dunbar staying in bounds.

TWill staying in bounds.

That was about fifteen seconds off the clock. Maybe more.

There are a number of things to like about Dak. And I don't see the things you suggest. Sorry.

It was as most of us predicted. I thought Dak was mostly excellent, given the position he was placed in. But 5 yards per attempt is not going to cut it. It reminded me of the Weeden Atlanta game. Weeden was something like 22 for 26 as the defense allowed him to do whatever he wanted as long as it wasn't downfield. While Dak didn't get much help from his receivers, he did have all day to throw at times. It actually looked just like most of the nightmarish games from last season. Romo is still the only guy who can make pre-snap adjustments and get anything out of Dez, for whatever reason.

Played solid. Didn't get help from his wide receivers and was limited by horrid play selection. Witten is great but he is old and slow and should never run screens to him
and Free didn't help, a lot of pressure from his side impacted plays. Throwing to Witten tho, twice, at 3rd and long with 10+ yards ATC needed is not great. Otherwise, he managed a good game. Throws are a bit high.

Garrett schemed a safe mode, underneath approach. The same crap that failed last year. Its a joke

I was impressed. Too bad he has to deal with a HC that's just as clueless today as he was day one on the job and a receiving core that went into full idiot mode.

Thought he played well enough to win.

His receivers weren't making big plays for him like they did in preseason.

Dak did everything he should have been expected to do in order to win the game.

Without a doubt, it's the defense that must bear the main burden of guilt for the loss.

Needless to say, Williams' dimwitted play at the end most assuredly cursed our cause.

And that inability to stretch the field allowed the Giants to sell out on the run the entire game. They never had to adjust because the QB never made them. It won them the game.

All of this is okay now being his first year but I don't think he'll ever be the QB I'd want for this team. I want top tier elite. I have a hard time believing that's Prescott.

True, but Morris seemingly had no problem running under the same circumstances today.

You bring up a slightly concerning point -- Dak had very little pressure all day. You'd like to see him go downfield more often and accurately given that protection.

The Weeden 22-26 game from last season is a disturbing parallel.

When you dominate the game like that and hold the ball nearly the entire first half you shouldn't have to worry about a couple of bit players running out of bounds to stop the clock for a game winning FG, The reason why it was such a close game is because the QB wasn't capable of exposing the defense for selling out entirely on the running game. They lined up daring Dak to beat them and he couldn't do it. A capable QB would have gashed them down the field early for big plays and points.

I wouldn't expect any rookie QB to do this right now. That's not what I'm saying. I'm saying this is why we lost, it's understandable, but I don't think this player will ever be good enough to be an elite franchise QB.

If Beasley catches that pass near the endzone, we'd have possibly been ahead. If Terrance Williams knew how to go out of bounds, we'd put the games in the hand of Dan Bailey who was hitting long kicks all day long. Prescott did about as well as you could expect from a quarterback. The real issue was receivers dropping the ball and a completely ineffective running game. We should have kept Morris in there.

Played better than Eli. Two easy TDs dropped. No INTs... Several WRs nearly created INTs for him. OL looked subpar compared to NYG's OL. Dez can't get open, Beasley is short, Witten incredibly slow, Terrance not smart when it matters. Dak kept the game close. Would have been a blowout disaster with Romo at QB.

Team needs a lot of work. Dak is clearly the future at QB however.
Ok maybe 1 easy TD dropped, Dez's incompletion the DB broke up the pass as Dez was bringing it into the body and while hitting the ground. The same play on the other side happened with the giants and our DB did not try and rip the ball out.
