What would the Cowboys get if they traded Zack Martin?

1st and a 4th would be my asking price.
Not going to happen for a Guard with a couple years left…no matter how great he’s been. Guards just do not get that sort of value. This is not the QB position we are talking about.

It would probably be a conditional pick based on his health and playing time. A 5th that can become a 4th…or something close to that

Trading him would be beyond stupid, the return would likely be underwhelming considering how much he's worth as a player and we NEED him on the field to be successful this year. His presence is crucial, not optional.

The senile dunkard and his clown son can pretend otherwise all they want but it won't change reality -- if they're serious about being SB contenders, they'll sit down with Martin and find a way to make him happy before the season starts.

What would the Cowboys get if they traded Zack Martin?

By Shan & RJ and Bobby Belt, 105.3 The Fan

The Cowboys are digging their heels in with Zack Martin, as the disgruntled All-Pro guard remains away from the team.

Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones said Tuesday on the K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan that he has 'no idea' if Martin will miss regular season games. And he and his father, Jerry, appear to be unfazed by Martin not being in camp right now.

Hypothetically, if things got uglier between the two sides, should the Cowboys consider trading him, and if so, what could they get in return for him?

Its not a bogus question, it has merit.

Can not see them even entertaining the notion, Martin solidifies the OL, a vet anchor at Guard, arguably the best in league at position.
It's a vet move that peeps are freaking out about, Jerry is going to make Martin happy enough to stick around.

God, I wish Jerry would just ride off into the sun, and let someone, other than his family member, be GM.

If a team suffers a catastrophic injury on the OL we could get a #1. Don't forget Martin could fill in at T also.

Let's just put it this way....he's a nice player to have....but he's way over-rated. If someone were to offer a 1st and something else...I don't even blink pulling the trigger. Same for Tyron...

How does a 1 next year help us this season?
Lets ship off our pro bowl Guard for a 1 next year... Dak would probably want to sit out a bit if he could.

Martin is being hit with penalties of $50,000 per day for each day he holds out. At that rate, it should be just a matter of time before he abandons holding out before it gets too costly. This issue surely isn't doing his reputation any favors. He'd be well advised to report to camp ASAP. Jerry is apparently "dug in" not to submit to his demands. You've gotta wonder how long he can afford to keep this thing going.

People forget Michael Irvin and Mark Stepnoski missed the entire camp in 1992.

Didn’t matter then, and it matters much less in Martins case.

The fines for missing camp practices are now way too stiff for Martin to miss camp. 50k per day!!

Honestly, he's worth 2 number 1s or a 1st and 2nd rd pick....and that's still a bargain for a team getting Zack Martin. You aren't finding a better player, anywhere.

It goes further than supply and demand when it comes to Martin due to age and looming contract.

There's plenty of teams that need a legit upgrade at right guard. But how many of those teams want to acquire a 33 year old guard that wants a new, and presumably big contract?
What's the value in a 33 year old guard that while still is playing at a high level, could be knocking on father time in a few years?

I'd assume the teams most interested are the 12-14 so called contenders, but then it'll dwindle based off who they have at guard and whether they think the cost to acquire Martin is worth it.

In a vacuum I'd say he's worth a late 1st or 2nd round pick, but he's not a Left or Right Tackle and IMO some teams may not value the guard spot enough to pay said price for a 33 guard.

This isn’t even a remote concern. He will show up eventually for the game checks.

Agree. Training camp is too long anyway. Especially for established veterans that stay in shape year around anyway.
If he reports 10 days before the first game, that will be soon enough. Imo.
