What would you do about Roy? Trade him?

Don't make it simple Hos..........it'll take all the fun out of it

I played in a small college that ran 3-5 WR sets, so I understand what the offense is trying to force the defense to do.
I understand coverages. You have to understand them to know how to beat them.

Our #1 defensive problem is not any player. It is getting to the QB faster. By season's end when these kids understand all the nuances better I think we'll be doing that quite well. We got to Brady more than 5 other teams combined, yet he still had time.

It bothers me to see a player blamed instead of a scheme.

Burnett is getting in the game more and more, isn't he? Had a nice blitz last week that was simply negated by Brady playing like Raptor Jesus.

I didn't see many positives from Burnett against the Pats.

In truth, you could say that about our entire defense. He did time his middle blitz very well, and had a clear shot at Brady who made an outrageous play to avoid the sack.

He is getting on the field more.

Honest question here.

Last year the media kept asking the same questions that fans are asking today.

More often than not Parcells said Roy did his assignment right.

Parcells knew nothing about coverage assignments? Wade doesn't? Brian Stewart doesn't? Bowles doesn't?

Why hasn't that sunk in yet?

who cares?

we gave up 48 freaking pts and lost one game...Roy messing up on a play or two didnt lose the game...I'm quite sure that with 48 pts allowed there were other players who made mistakes...I'm also quite sure the Pats played a nearly perfect game

David

Are you saying that our pass defense is nothing to worry about? This probably all ocmes down to a matter of perpective. Some would be happy to go 14-2, losing to only the good passing teems that we can't outscore then losing in the playoffs or even the SB.Others can see things obectively and want to compete with the BEST and win another championship.

You're right when you say it all comes down to perspective. What makes your opinion anymore objective than someone elses. Having a different opinion just means you disagree with a particular stance, but it doesn't make you objective.

If you were a coach would you sell out your players to the media? That would be wrong on many different levels. Are you saying that coaches never hold things back from the media?

There is no such thing as a perfect coverage scheme. Sometimes you just need to tip your hat to the offens einstead of blaming the defense.
:fact:

And there's also no such thing as perfect players.

All players and schemes can be beaten with outstanding players and perfect execution. This offense had both.

But you know what? They might not have it next time. Players get hurt, have bad days, and make mistakes.

Although I admit, I haven't seen Tom Jackson's breakdown of Newman's post-play body language yet. I'll get back to you.

Classic ....

if you listen to what Wade has said and watch the damn game, you'd see he isnt lining up that often in the box...he hasnt been able to due to all the CB issues we have...Wade says once we get Henry and Newman on the field healthy, things will change some

David

David, your damn civility is heartwarming. I appreciate your damn tip on watching the damn game and listening to the damn coach. I'll damn well try to keep that in mind............

That isn't selling them out.

He flat out said several times that it wasn't Roy's assignment.

He was posturing?

He managed to get on the field and not get injured?

I saw him use poor tackling technique. I'm just saying.

I agree CL.

Deoin Sanders is the best coverage player I have ever seen and I have seen a bunch of them.

I remember Marvin Harrison whipping him like a step child.

Was Deion a liabilty?

If anyone tells me yes they are out of their minds.

I see your point but it also doesn't mean that I(we) are NOT objective.Like I said before, I want what is best for the football team that has been a part of my life for just about as long as I can remember. I would LOVE for RW to be the best SS in football and to help this team win another championship. It is hard for me to say that I don't think he is the guy. I can't discount what I see though.I sincerely hope he proves me wrong.Sincerely.

I dig the honesty.

Though I disagree (vehemently) with your stance on Roy, I give credit for the civil, well thought out discussion.
