When will the Conference Championship curse end?

A player and agent knows there's a salary cap thus a limited amount of money to go around for the team, this is not new information or a surprise to them. So how much money an owner has really is irrelevant.

I'm afraid Jerry will cave out of fear. Fear drives a lot of things in life and most of the time it shouldn't. Fear is why many on this board insist we must sign Dak to pretty much whatever he wants because fear is behind the logic that this team will be no good without him. It's not even that I'm arguing that they're wrong, it's that I can accept being bad to find a great QB versus not winning in the playoffs with Dak anyway. But fear will tell you we can't do that because we'll never find a great QB. May be true, may not, only one way to find out and regardless Dak is in his 30's he won't be around forever.
Salary cap applies to everyone. MVP runner up and 3 straight 12-5 seasons. There is a market value for that. Either you want to pay it or you don't. Dallas has not won in 30 years and their value has risen higher than any franchise in sports history. So winning is not the criteria that determines value...demand determines it.

Do you think Jerry is giving any money back or saying his franchise is not worth the money it brings because they don't win? So Dak owes it to himself and the QBs that come after him to ask and receive his market value!

One is a poster from an actual 1987 movie. The other is not. You decide.

'DE' - I assume from your different \ changing avatars that you are a cinephile.
Do you still trek down to the cavernous theater \ mutilplex, or prefer to watch movies at home?

I do both depending on the movie. I went to the theater more when I was younger and would catch films like Dune: Part Two on opening day practically all the time. Now, I usually wait until they hit streaming, lol.

The only chance we have is if one of Jerry's descendants decides to sell the team.

New ownership is our only chance and there are enough Jones in line to inherit this team that we will never see it in our lifetimes.

All we can hope for is some good football to watch once in awhile and maybe get lucky and win a playoff game I mean how much luckier could we have gotten last year than watching the eagles totally implode and getting the home playoff game like we did.

We couldn't even take advantage of that opportunity.

From top to bottom all this franchises about is making money the players mimic their owner and do nothing but market themselves and make their super bowl scoring the big contract.

None of these players care about a super bowl all that motivates them is making the most money they can in the short window they have.
Nope. This franchise is about Jerry's ego. Nothing else matters to Jerry but appeasing it. He even turns down super bowl chances just to feed his own ego. It's sick, really sick.

Haven't gotten into streaming; I still watch past films at home that I missed seeing when they were originally released, on the varying TV channels. Slacked off attending movies the last few years in person, but planning to start back. My work hours allow me to see matinees - avoiding crowds, rude behavior, etc.

I'm going with this......I remember the teams in the 90s denying the 49ers 3 straight years and finally they put it together and got the monkey off their backs.
By forming the deepest DLine in the NFL. Soooooooooooooooooo, how do you propose Jerry do this? First you have to convince him. Then you have to prolifically start taking DT's.

Sooooooooooo, you think you can convince Jerry to take George Karlaftis over Tyler Smith? Hard to do since Jerry let the OL start falling apart yet again.

Funny you should mention matinees. I sometimes cut work short to see movies during the afternoon for the reasons you stated.

Crowds do not bother me as much as attention seekers. They have gone to movies for as long as I have been going but they have gotten far worse during the past 10 - 15 years. They cannot turn off or silence their cells. They talk on their cells. They talk to people they attend the movie with about nothing to do with the movie. They cannot get their concessions before the movie starts. It is just a litany of self-avoidable nonsense, lol.

Stephen is far less committed to winning than Jerry. The son is about money only.
Possibly but his future leadership style is still unknown...maybe he sees that hiring a gm will help him make more money

I'll go one further - The Cowboys will be the only team to not make a conference title game in the 21st Century, AND it will be many years to decades that they continue to hold it after they take sole ownership of this shameful stat. Unless you can tell me Stevie Wonder Jonesboy is going to suddenly figure it out after Jerry is gone. I don't think you can tell me that and be honest with yourself.

That is how incompetent Jerry Jones is as GM. It's stark and nobody should ever carry water or fanboy for Jerry. It's indefensible at this point. The NFL really should look into a conflict of interest rule. Call it the "Snyder-Jones Rule" where an owner cannot also be GM since he cannot be fired for gross negligence and incompetence.

I doubt the majority of NFL owners would not oppose the passage of the rule to govern themselves because they do neither want the title nor responsibilities that accompany it.

As soon as I can find my lost lucky pair of underwear from the 90's.
You do that, and I’ll go look for my Jimmy Johnson-style Starter jacket I wore that last winning season.

Between the two of us, we could be the linchpin to the next Cowboys Dynasty.
All of our hopes fall upon you two. Good luck. And godspeed to you both. :starspin:

I’ve given up hoping for a Super Bowl. At this point, I’ll take anything above a Divisional Round game.

I watch my fellow DFW Pro Sports Fans
  • Rangers won the World Series last year
  • Stars just made it to NHL Conference Finals Round
  • Mavs are currently in the NBA Finals
  • Cowboys haven’t been to a conference championship game or Super Bowl in almost 30 years. Since 1996.
Meanwhile, since 1996 in the NFL…..

NFC East Fans
  • Eagles - 7 Conf.Championships, 3 SBs
  • Giants - 3 Conf.Championships, 3 SBs
NFL Powerhouses in Mid-90’s
  • 49ers - 7 Conf Championships, 3 SBs
  • Packers - 8 Conf Championships, 3 SBs
  • Steelers - 7 Conf Championships, 3 SBs
Some of the Worst Franchises in the NFL in Mid-90’s
  • Saints - 3 Conf. Championships, 1 SB
  • Buccaneers - 3 Conf.Championships, 2 SBs
  • Falcons - 4 Conf.Championships, 2 SBs
  • Cardinals. 2 Conf.Championships, 1 SB
  • Seahawks - 3 Conf.Championships, 3 SBs
Washington fans are still in the same misery. They haven’t seen a Conf.Championship or SB since the 90’s either. But, their Owner/President just sold the team.

What year do you think our curse will finally end?

Good lad, let us focus first on our inability to play with the big boys in the first round of the playoffs.
(2022) 23-17 (Dak chokes)
(2023) 19-12 (Dak chokes)
(2024) 48-32 (Dak chokes, chokes, chokes)

Many here hate Jerry and the idiots wish him dead, but he's provided the players to win...you can't play him for dropped passes, Dak choking or Quinns stupid gameplan this year.

When WINNING becomes the priority over ego and when the owners remember the franchise is called the COWBOYS and not the Joneses.
