Where are you now on losing/retaining/promoting Dan Quinn?

He was one of the hottest names for the 2023 HCing cycle before the season started. Although we are ranked #5 defensively, we still have some serious issues. But I guess the question is/are his scheme vs lack of quality players in key positions. Has his star fizzled a bit over the last few weeks? Thoughts?

  • Do you still want him as MM replacement?
  • Are you OK with losing him for an HC job?

He can take a hike. The emperor is starting to show his nakedness.

It’s pretty obvious the love affair many fans had with Dan Quinn is over. You would have thought Mike Nolan was back coaching the defense against Jacksonville. However, to be fair the injuries have played a big part in the decline of the defense.

You might want to refer to his coaching record in Atlanta. I would take Sean Payton any day over Dan Quinn.
He has a better chance of winning a SB than Payton. Tell me, who has won a SB as HC with two different teams?

+1 ....but I wouldn't rule out us going to a 3-4 if he leaves. Remember that was MM base D for most of his tenure with the Packs.
I’m leaning towards 34 in the future myself, just don’t see it until after Lawrence is gone and fairly sure that won’t be for at least one more year!

His team coughed up the biggest Super Bowl lead in history. He had only two winning seasons in six years in Atlanta. All his teams were known for is coughing up big leads. The Cowboys are starting to cough up big leads with him. Just because no HC has ever won a Super Bowl with two different teams doesn’t mean it can’t be done. There have been at least three coaches I can think of off the top of my head that have led two different teams to Super Bowl’s Dick Vermeil, Dan Reeves and Andy Reid. I’m not saying I would be thrilled with Sean Payton, but he has a much better head coaching record than Dan Quinn. The issue was Sean Payton is he quit because he was burned out and he’s only been one Super Bowl despite having a Hall of Fame QB.

I'm not even advocating for Quinn, nor am I even against Payton, I'm just confused by the logic for Payton. He's not a coach with a great history of fixing defenses. He had some solid ones toward the end of his tenure in NO, but also some of the worst in history too. I bring up McCarthy just because he has a very similar track record to Payton. If thats the logic to make a change, why even make a change?

The alternative is have the Beamer Series 2 when a beamer Series 5 is out there. And there is nothing wrong with tha either, old fellow.

I would like to keep him, he is a really good DC when he has good talent to work with. However, he does have a disturbing trend of blowing leads, even dating back to his Atlanta days.

So to answer your question, no I would not replace MM with him as I do not think he is HC material. If another team offers him a HC gig, I would not lose sleep over him leaving.

We need to take Quinn off the pedestal. This defense is fundamentally flawed at stopping he run and he can’t figure it out. That’s a system related issue at this point and it’s an absolute back breaker in regards to the season, no matter what Dak and the offense do.

Ilargely agree, good lad, but methinks Quinn does know what to do but doesn't have key personnel.

Retain but don't reward this Brutus watching Fat Mac.

Promote? To wha, me birdeye?
For having, as of this week, the 24th worst run defense?
For his hyped D squandering a 17-point lead?
For being wouldbe successor to Fat Mac?

we’re gonna ignore that we are down to 2nd and 3rd stringers at multiple positions because of injuries? Our defense was performing great before that. Your analysis is so simplistic that it’s scary

I find it's best not to engage in conversation with him.

If you had been here before someone FINALLY stepped in and told
him to knock it off, you'd understand. It was quite belittling, and other
words I can't use, toward

Oh, he's been that way to me. I usually find it best to mock him if he starts that. He's a troll, so you kno how it goes. It's funny how he thinks his jokes about my being a furry are funny, as if I haven't heard them before.

Trouble? Ha. You don't know what trouble is, Rayy.
Like I've said before, admit what you did. Apologize!
And I'll never mention it again.
You used to post comments here as a ghetto black man.
Much the same way you do your dumb Brit act.
Also, nobody likes you.

I find policing a bunch of children bleepin' disheartening.

How hard is it to debate a subject without resorting to childish insults?
