The only thing I said about Frye is he's not a veteran QB. Nobody said anything about him being great. Try to keep up.

And Grossman played horribly in most games. That's why he had a 74 QB rating for the year. That's why he has a 72 career rating. The Bears won games in spite of Grossman. Grossman doesn't have a problem with consistency, he consistently sucks.

Romo had a 95 rating for the year. There's no comparison between the two.

You know actually, Grossman had a couple of really bad games that really hurt his season. If you look at his games, he posted the following.

64.9 QBRT vs Vikes
10.2 QBRT vs Az
36.8 QBRT vs Miami
23.7 QBRT vs NE
1.3 QBRT vs Miami
0.0 QBRT vs GB

Pretty much horrible. However, he also posted some very good games.

98.6 QBRT vs GB
148.0 QBRT vs DET
100.5 QBRT vs Seattle
101.2 QBRT vs BUF
137.4 QBRT vs SF
105.7 QBRT vs NYG
81.4 QBRT vs NYJ
114.4 QBRT vs Stl
104.3 QBRT vs TB
80.4 QBRT vs DET

Now, these are significantly better then the previous set of numbers.

I'd say that flashes of potential is a fair statement.

Teague31 I understand your post and think Manning, Brady and Palmer for sure. No to VY/6 and Brees though. Brees is tempting, but that mole tips it to Romo's favor.

At this moment in time, I would never choose Leinart, Young, Cutler, or Smith over Tony Romo.

Romo has accomplished more, has shown a higher ceiling, and isn't substantially older.

Although Leinart et al. may have a greater abundance of raw physical ability, they certainly aren't guaranteed any measure of success. After all, Ryan Leaf arguably possessed more pure physical ability than Peyton Manning, and Joe Montana certainly wasn't the greatest physical specimen.

I don't think it's so much of putting 2 more into the good column, but rather not being sooooooo horrible when he has one in the bad column.

I sure as hell wouldn't trade him for that POS Brady Quinn. :D
but why not? Quinn could bench press 225 like 80 times.

That's more than a couple. And those #s are about as bad as you'll ever see.

Manning
Brady
Palmer
Brees
Bulger
Rivers
(McNabb is better than Romo right now, but I wouldn't trade for McNabb)

And I really like the potential of Cutler, Russell, Leinart and would probably gamble on them.

Smith and Young intrigue me as well....but I am more "iffy" on them...

Its finally nice to have a short list of QBs I'd take over our starting QB.

I agree that McNabb is better than Romo right now, but Rivers? How is he better than Romo? It's hard to talk about potential, because they were both allowed to sit for a couple years (though Romo did sit for one year longer).

I didn't say Rivers was better.

I said I'd trade Romo for him.

It's 6 games out of 16. For a guy in his first year starting, there have been several who posted fewer good games and more bad. Every young QB is different. I'v seen HOF QBs stink it up early in there careers and I've seen nothing QBs come in and have great seasons early, only to go on and fail. I don't dispute the fact that Grossman had some pretty bad games. However, having said that, I think the original poster called it correctly. He showed flashes. Time will tell if he becomes a good QB or not.

Grossman was pretty damn good the first 7 weeks of the season (sans the AZ game).

He showed flashes. I don't see how you could argue otherwise. Yeah, he sucked as well...

But he had some brilliant games, which is what ABQC was arguing....

That's pretty much how it is going to be for any talented QB -- yes, i do think Grossman has talent. Most Qbs with a shred of talent are going to break off some stellar games.

The young guys will be all over the board with their performances. Good QBs limit the bad games -- they pull a 70 rating out of a games where they struggle -- they turn to busdriver on those bad days - not winning the game for the team but at least not losing it for them.

Wow........... I like him too, but remind me of the games when he was clutch and led us back to victory. I hope he's the man this year...he certainly has the weapons.

Do you not remember the Commanders and Giants games? We ended up losing the Commanders game because of a crazy play but he was clutch with the strike to set up the game winning fG that got blocked.. also clutch against the gents in the final minutes to set up the game winning fg. Not a great game at all by Romo, but he came up BIG with it on the line.. The Colts game,, maybe his best performance of the year against the eventual SB champions.. In the playoff game,, again, not a great game.. but was good enough in the 4th qt to win that game.

Romo does not have the physical gifts that some of these QB's have.. he don't have the Rocket arm or the college pedigree that some do.. but the guy is a winner. He seems to play his best win the chips are on the table,, and that is what you want in a QB. Yes he makes mistakes.. yes he gambles some when he shouldn't.. but that is how you become great and not just average!

I honestly think Romo is the best qb in our division.. McNabb has the history, but he also chokes when its on the line and is injury prone.. and Eli and JC don't even belong in the same discussion with Romo..
