Which QB Would You Trade Romo For?

Brady
P. Manning
Palmer
Rivers
Hasselbeck
Brees
Young
Leinart *
Smith
Cutler *
Roethlisberger
Bulger
Vick (woof)

*long-term; Romo could be better than both in 2007.

Why wouldn't you include Young with Cutler and Leinart? You think he's going to go from the worst QB in the league (statistically) to one of the best in one year? For that matter, why not include Alex Smith as well.

The QB's I've bolded are the ones that Romo was clearly better than LAST year...and it wasn't close. Hasselback was the closest...he managed to attain a QB rating nearly 20 pts behind Romo.

Is it just that you think Romo's ceiling was eclipsed by his fifth game, or that you think that these big name draftees from the last three years have some factor that automatically deems them quality starting NFL QB's without earning it?

wow, lots of vince young love. I think he is overrated as a pro player at the moment. He looked really good at times, but he looked really bad at others. Although he is a rookie and that is to be expected, around here in houston I hear people talking like he is already manning or brady. He was awesome in college but Im not sold on his pro game yet.

And I wouldnt trade the saints third string quarterback for eli manning

On this board, he's VERY overrated at the moment.

Off the top of my head, I'd take Palmer, Brees, Rivers, Cutler, Young or Leinart right now.

Yeah, after I posted, I re-read the the thread and will admit that I misinterpreted it. But still, it's still implying the that Romo is the 5th best QB in the NFL and I think it's way too early in his career to start ranking him.

yea you came off as classless........

good job

but really id trade him for.....

P. Manning
D. Brees
P. Rivers
T. Brady
A. Smith (SF)
Maybe M. Vick (and his dogs)

thats it

Rivers, Smith and Vick are not even stone cold yes's in my mind.

alex smith for romo? not sure about that one..
Im more sure of that one than I am of him trading for vick and his dogs.

I think smith is a legit starting QB and has experience on Romo

Personally, Smith doesn't impress me. His stats are nothing much to speak of and hasn't done much to warrant comparison to Romo.

Simply put Romo > A. Smith

...and yet with all of that starting experience over Romo he still finished well behind Tony in nearly every statistical category.

Brees and Palmer, for sure. I'm not sure about Brady and Manning, simply because of their age. It'd be great to have them and they're obviously better QBs, but they're both on the wrong side of 30. What's the point of having a great QB if you can only have him for 3-4 years? Sure you might get a chance at 1 or 2 Super Bowls, but I like the promise that Romo has shown, and we could have that for much longer.

I guess it boils down to, do you want a "great" QB for 3-4 years or a "really good" QB for 8+ years. I'm inclined to take the latter given how hard it is to even find a "really good" QB.

Brady and Peyton will be around for 6-8 more years IMO

I would trade him for the following:

Brady
Manning
Palmer (Troy Aikman Jr)
Brees
Young

I would seriously consider...
Leinart
Cutler
Rothliesberger
Hasselbeck
Rivers

IMO Big Ben is a big fraud... so he won a sb.. big deal, so did trent dilfer.. he has yet to prove he can put a team on his back.

Yeah Percy, didn't you know you can't even make a simple comparison of anyone to Aikman without implying said person indeed = Aikman;)...

Sorry, I just get tired of hearing the comparison all the time. Palmer hasn't shown any of the clutch ability that Aikman did. If the guy actually wins a ring, then the comparison may have some validity.

Being that Romo is a "homegrown" product... I wouldnt trade him for any QB. Kinda like he came up through our farm system.

Smith didn't put up good #s? No, but he didn't stink -- and when you are throwing to Arnaz Battle, Antonio Bryant, and Eric Johnson as your TOP WRs and TE you've got a tougher road than throwing to TO, Glenn, and Witten.

SF is a team that is getting much better and Smith has a lot to do with that - I would be hard pressed to say Romo has a better future in store than Smith because Smith has a huge physical edge.

Gore is carrying that offense, Smith is just a bus-driver at this point

don't forget that Vince Young is on the face of Madden next year. That would be a bad trade ;)

None of his stats impresses me and his 16 week stats doesn't stack up very well against a QB who played 11 games. If he is as good as you or few thinks, then he should be able to make plays regardless who the receivers are.

IMO, SF is improving because of Gore, not because of Smith. Gore is the playmaker and spark plug of that team, not Smith. His pedestrian numbers indicate he is a bus driver nothing more. That isn't to say he won't improve, he'll most likely will as will Romo, but at this stage, he is no Romo.
