Which QBs would you rather have instead of Tony Romo?

Who's playing the role of Emmit Smith in your analogy?

Peyton, Ben, Brady. Guys who won championships in addition to gaudy stats.

One win = proven winner? Says who? Not I. The only thing Tony has over him at this point is stats via a big head start. But yes, he could prove to be a flash in the pan.
You're confused here. You would be the one claiming he was a "proven winner." Not me.

So why did lots of people eliminate a "better" QB like Peyton from consideration? Age? Well, Tony is no spring chicken, and Dallas' window will not stay open indefinitely. Who's more likely to win a championship in the next two to three years: Peyton or Tony?
I think most would agree that Peyton is more likely to win a championship over the next 2-3 years. Again, no one is saying Romo is better than Peyton Manning. You may disagree with the argument that Tony is worth more now because he's 4 years younger, but that's completely irrelevant to the post to which you're replying.

What the hell are you getting at? I gave you an honest answer on Cutler (one that favored Tony, btw), and all I get is bewildering snark.
Perhaps an answer that you never gave.

You sure told all those people that are arguing that Tony is better than them.

I can't believe Cowboys fans would hate on Romo to begin with.

They must have never watched during the 5-11 years.

If you're a true Cowboy fan you can't hate Romo. There is just no way.

I mean I would have tons of different arrangements if you take into account age, contract situation, etc.

I really feel Romo is going to be great, a lot of cowboys put him into the elite tier a bit to soon and really suffered through some growing pains.

I honestly wouldnt have anyone other than Romo, he is so much fun to watch. Its fun to have watch him earn his spot among the best QB's in the league. I would put him in my 5-6 range for best QB in the league though

Can't say who it is I'd want over Romo for the Cowboys, cause there are none. However if I was starting a team I'd take Rivers or Ryan over Romo to start over from scratch.

As for Brady and P. Manning, each year that passes from there last championship, the more ground lost. Neither of them do really anything for me anymore.

Concerning the "new gen" of QBs in this league, I view them as;
Romo (Lightning in a Bottle...if we can figure out how to get him in the bottle, that is)
Rivers (Just tough)
Ryan (His second year will say alot)
Cutler (I think magic waiting to happen in this match with the Bears)
Palmer (He still gets a chance to come back from his injury)
Roth (Can't deny the winning)
Quinn (When his time comes..)

People may say I'm crazy, but I always liked Big Ben, Peyton Manning and Jeff Garcia in his prime.... I think J.G. in his prime on this team would be a good fit. JMO.

That being said, it's sort of a loaded question: I'd stay with Tony. He's my favorite qb ever.

Manning is the only one I would take over Romo right now.

I always wonder why Brees gets a pass for his inability to get his team into the playoffs, they fluttered down the stretch the last few seasons, yet you hear no mention of his teams struggles being linked to him.

For those of you who think Rivers' stats were inflated by playing in the AFC West, here are his non-AFC West numbers.

Comp Att % Yards Avg Td Int
191 303 63.0 2369 7.82 20 5

Per game:
19.1 30.3 63.0 236.9 7.82 2 0.5

He is a complete stud, and the most untouchable (untradeable) player in the league.

I'm tempted by Matt Ryan but honestly I don't want a 34 year olf Peyton Manning or a 31 year old Brady, I'll take the 29 year old always a Cowboy Romo.

But if you twisted my arm I think Matt Ryan is going to be terrific, Aikman-like even.

Ill take a QB that doesnt turn the ball over in crunch time. I could care less about how old they are.

Agreed. He played very well for a rookie. Will he ever be as good as Romo? There's potential there, but I wouldn't say it's likely.

What exactly has Tony done that warrants all the greatness you bestow on him.

I'll take Matty Ice and his intagibles plus LEADERSHIP over the class clown.

Hey man, no one here wants facts, they KNOW that Rivers is overrated because Mel Kiper said that his throwing motion would never work in the NFL. If Kiper said it then it must be true and if Rivers puts up great stats then it is only because they are inflated against weak competition.

If Romo puts up great stats then the are refuted with the "he sucks down the stretch" trump card. Or with the Ace of trumps - "he hasn't won a playoff game".

Nimrods! Their opinion is all that matters to them.

Brady and Manning.

You put guys like Rivers on our team since 2006 and we aren't even competitive.

Romo's mobility is a must for our extremely inconsistent offensive line.

I dont hate on Tony. I just point out facts that homers overlook just because he is wearing the Star. I see beyond my allegiances and my Romo jersey. Fans say he is the next big thing, but he is not. Almost 30 with no playoff wins. Too late and too hollywood for me. Your QB shouldnt be hollywood and he SHOULD be a leader.

Not intimidated to speak up is what we need on this team from the QB postion. We dont have that.
