Who is most under appreciated player in Cowboys history

The championship losses to the Packers in the 60s. Dave Robinson LB for the Packers was chosen ahead of Chuck Howley for the Hall of Fame. Their stats were similar but the Packers kept coming out on top over the Cowboys. The Super Bowl MVP would’ve helped Howley a lot more had the Cowboys won that game.

Are you suggesting Super Bowl MVP Larry Brown belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame? The Cowboys won that game.

Lately its Aikman. The Dakistans are going out of their way in an attempt to discredit the 90 championship teams while trying to make their hero look better.

I haven’t seen anyone try to discredit our 90s championships with any of the teams we’ve had under Dak. Troy Aikman never had to carry those great teams. When he did have to carry the team his first couple of seasons and later in his career he got killed. He suffered a lot of concussions and a significant back injury that required surgery. He was a great player but he never passed for more than 3445 yards and 23 TDs in a season. He only had three 3000 yard seasons and one season over 20 TD passes. He’s disrespected by some because of his lack of numbers and the loaded teams he played for.

Brown was a good player that had one memorable game and it happened to be in the Super Bowl. He wasn’t even close to being on the same level as Chuck Howley. A victory over the Colts in Super Bowl V along with his MVP would have helped Howley get into the Hall of Fame. Another championship ring to go along with the one he got the following year in Super Bowl VI might have made the difference in my opinion, however those losses to the Packers really hurt. Several Steelers got in the Hall of Fame because of those 4 Super Bowl rings.

I don’t believe any QB could have led the Cowboys to those championships but some do because those teams were so loaded and the OL was arguably the best ever. The lack of big passing numbers has many question Troy Aikman’s greatness.

He certainly belongs in the Hall of Fame. The Ice Bowl was such an iconic game, had the Cowboys just won that one it might have been enough to put Howley in the Hall of Fame.

Others could be Danny White who led Cowboys to 3 straight championship losses and held most of the Cowboys passing records until Romo .

Meredith might be on the list as well after losing 2 straight NFL title games and ended up retiring early due to fan ridicule along with battered body. Regardless being in ROH.

The media and some Cowboy fans aren’t too kind to some of their prolific QB’s who don’t win championships.

Ill go with Danny White and then Romo.

Romo had a tendency to fold under pressure-the bigger the game, the bigger the chance of a lose as proven by his playoff record and the 3 straight "just win the last game" losses. How was he underappreciated?
Meredith and White were appreciated during their time. They're becoming forgotten over time because they didnt win anything big. I was a huge fan of Meredith but never forgave him for walking away. White got burned by "the catch" but he was appreciated when he played.

for underappreciated I would go more toward Bob Hayes, Chuch Howley, Cornell Green types. Consistent all stars that we took for granted and were ignored by the NFL after they retired

I immediately thought Danny White. He is knocked (heck, I used to knock him) for losing three straight NFC Championship Games. But, truth be told, the league had finally caught up with Tom Landry, and he was - understandably so - reluctant to change. It also didn't help that we were an aging team, and weren't as innovative as we used to be in identifying and drafting talented players.

This is so true. Best leader of men I have seen in 40 years following this team, most accurate passer, but today's Gen is all stats stats stats.
