I wanted to add....

I don't think AR is over-rated as a QB,but just as the media portrays him to be. He can never do no wrong, etc in their eyes. I would gladly take him on our team in a heartbeat!

FWIW, if he were a Dallas Cowboy, he would still be #3 on this best list :D

Honest question here, but if Rodgers continues on this pace, not get better but just stays consistent, is he a top 10 QB of all-time?

I don't think so.......I think he is over-rated. Don't get me wrong, he is a good to great player but I think he is put on a pedestal IMO. He gets way too much praise and no one ever points out his negatives.

Maybe this is just the pinot grigio talking, heh.

I'm probably the wrong guy to ask. I think he's been the best in the league for years and is playing in a league of his own. Until last season, anyway. I think Brady and Manning actually get more credit than they deserve, though both are obviously all time greats.

Its clear Cowboy fans think more highly of Romo than the national media or fans do. I think Romo is a top 5 QB in this league. But at the same time........his lack of post season success whether it be because of him or the team surrounding him hurts his reputation among fans of other teams who don't get to see Tony week in and out.

Assuming he doesn't win any more Superbowls? If he doesn't, I wouldn't put him in the Top 10, despite the fact he probably end up retiring as the #1 rated QB of all time as measured by QB rating.

If anything I thought they didn't allow Romo to throw it enough in the Packer game.

From a QB rating perspective he outplayed Rodgers in that game. Problem is he only had 19 attempts.

They went with what they trusted more.. the ground game. The Packers did the opposite, they trusted their elite star QB to win the game for them. That is why Rodgers had 35 attempts passing. Our loss to the Packers was a team loss and it included Romo.

If he were on our team starting back in 2006, I think the Cowboys would have at least 2 more super bowls than we have now. That dude is the best QB in football right now and I think it has been that way for years.

Brees
Ben
Eli
Luck - Mostly due to the age factor. Way more physically talented than Romo.
R. Wilson - Another age pick.

I'll give you Ben, Luck, and Wilson, but Eli? I get it, he'll probably be an HOFer due to the two rings, but the guy is not as good a QB right now as Romo.

I'm just saying all in all we had a fantastic line and running game. I remember several times throughout the season where Romo had like 7+ seconds to throw the ball. That is an insane anount of time. The Commanders game was one where the defense blitzed over and over and Romo looked like a rookie QB. Had zero clue what to do.

Romo had an extremely good supporting cast. Outstansing line, outstanding RB, elite TE, elite WR, etc. It takes all of that to get us anywhere with Romo. He had the best season of his career because of all of that. Our defense was probably average in the league. In this day in age in the NFL you can't have everything perfect around you.

You remember a couple times where Romo had 7+ seconds to throw the ball? I also remember MANY, MANY times where the protection absolutely shattered and it was Romo 1 on 1 with a defender who Romo then made look like a fool.

JJ Watt blows by our best lineman and has Romo dead in his sights. Any other QB? Sack, Fumble. Our QB? Touchdown.

Romo dances in the pocket against Seattle after a breakdown. Any other QB? Forced throw, INT. Romo? 3rd and 20 complete to T-Will in Seattle to WIN the game.

Go look at the throw to Dez against GB, Romo had a free blitzer in his face within 2 seconds of the snap on 4th down. Any other QB, sack, fumble, INT. Romo? Precision throw 30 yards downfield.

That Commanders game where the defense blitzed over and over and Romo looked like a rookie? Our OC and line coach had zero clue what to do, not Romo. The OC / line coach adjusted for the 2nd game and what was the result? It's the OC's responsibility to gameplan against the DC, not Romo's. Is Romo supposed to be the QB, OC, and line coach? Only one player has that sort of responsibility and short of an SB win against the infamous Rex Grossman, he'd still be just as much of a "choke artist" as Romo.

The only people who consider Romo in this category are Cowboys fans.

That's all that matters. Regardless, Romo should have been on that list. Manning is in steep decline these days. He should be in the "other" category.

You forget the OT throw to Dez vs. Texans.

At this point, objectively I'd say:

1. Rodgers
2. Brady
3. Romo
4. Roethlisberger
5. Luck
6. P. Manning
7. Brees
8. Flacco
9. Wilson
10. Ryan/Newton
And you would win. Objectively speaking.

Going into 2015:

1. Rodgers

--sizeable gap--

2. Brady
3. Peyton (giving benefit of the doubt for now)
4. Roethlisberger
5. Brees
6(1a). Romo
6 (A1). Luck
--small, but distinct gap--
8. Eli
9. Ryan
10. Rivers

If you want to put Peyton further down the list, I'm fine with that.

How in the world is Brees above Romo if we are talking about going in to 2015??

A little benefit of the doubt. He was 48 yards away from hitting 5k for the 4th straight year. But just a quick reevaluation, I could place brees behind Romo/Luck.
