This ....... Romo promised he would tutor the next great QB ...... and you can tell by their sideline antics that Romo really likes this kid.

He is telling him what to be prepared for ...... which is invaluable for a young QB.
I really want a screen grab of right after he made that jump pass as he jumped out of bounds. He went over to romo and they watched on the big screen together. Romos smile was priceless. He wanted to say "that's the same dumb stuff I used to try to make a play"

Sometimes its the luck of the draw. Remember we wanted to trade back up for Lynch but couldn't pull it off. So we were sorta stuck with Dak in the 4th. If the front office had of gotten there way, we would not have Dak.

I liked the pick at that time, and I like it now.

I dunno. They may have been blowing smoke. I recall this team having heavy intrest in Dak but to be honest this was the one draft I didn't follow.

seriously folks, did our coaches develop this guy? did he come from Miss St this polished? Someone on our team has done some serious work with him, its unbelivable that a rookie can come in here and look like this. your thoughts

I think Dak needs to clean up his hand-offs. If the only thing I can pick on is his hand-offs that means he is doing really well. I hate to throw this comparison out there but he reminds me of McNabb his first year in philly. They even stand same in huddle and there roll-outs are almost identical. McNabb had stronger arm though. Hopefully Dak doesn't possess same choking qualities.

To his credit Lynch looked really good as well last week

Kind of reminds me when Jimmy wanted a LB, lost out on Francis, lost out Lathon, so settled for Emmitt.
Not saying it will be a comparison by any means, but it reminds me of it.
But I bet this happens quite often.
Thats the year we lost the #1 overall pick because of Steve Walsh.

I always wondered of the take Blair Thomas with that pick

Good point. He very well may have.
Another lucky outcome for Jimmy. But he really wanted those 2 LB's also.
Some of Jimmy's best deals / picks came about because of other things that did not transpire.

My guess is it would have been Seau or Thomas.

Yes, forgot about Seau.
Actually he may have been the top guy on their draft board.
I know they had Francis and Lathon ahead of Smith. And Jimmy said Emiitt was 4th on their board.
But I believe that was a hindsight thing, and he was further down.

Well, I for one have to eat crow I thought when we didn't get one of the big three we would be trading away half our draft next year and the year after. Kudos to everybody involved with the decision and for people on the board who called it

I'm just glad he's a cowboy.:flagwave:

The Cowboys didn't luck out on Prescott. They met with him at the Senior Bowl, coached the South against his North team, of which he was the MVP of the game. They also sent scouts/coaches to his workouts, twice I believe.

There were very few of us who were high on this pick on draft day. I kept telling people Dak has that "it" factor, the first I've seen since Romo. Most people were ticked off because we didn't trade for Lynch, but it was reported that even had we gotten Lynch, we still wanted Prescott if he dropped low enough. When we didn't get Lynch, they wanted Prescott even more.

This was not luck .. the Cowboys coaches and scouts were all high on Dak. I told people when we didn't make the trade for Lynch, we likely lucked out. I fully expected the Cowboys to draft Dak assuming another team didn't grab him too high. Once we got him, I said people would be surprised by his ability to play.

That said, as much as I expected of him, I did not expect this much, this soon.
I cosign everything except imo Dak is right on pace to be the future and he is doing what I expected him to do. The pump the brakes crowd can go pump their own damn brakes. I can remember being surprised when we faced a freshman McNair. No way a freshman is ready for our number 1 D. Well he hung 52 on us in the rain. Some people just have it. Dak share a lot in common with McNair but his poise, ball handling and accuracy is already better. If given the chance he would take this team to the playoffs. It is such a luxury to have him sit behind Romo. Also, I love the pundits are trying to compare him to Russell Wilson but the rookie Dak is a much better QB than a rookie Russell, let that sink in. Russell ran read options, boots, and rollouts. Dak is looking off safeties and reading through progressions. What's scary is he still have room to grow.

What do the following great QBs all have in common?
Joe Montana (Joe Cool)
Peyton Manning
John Elway
Brett Farve
Johnny Unitas
Terry Bradshaw
Troy Aikman
Dan Marino
They all have the same special Brain Type ESTP/FEIR that makes them great football QBs. They have the ability to process information, see the field and deliver the ball under pressure better than other Brain type. They were all poised leaders of their teams. See the below link that I wrote to the zone after Dak was drafted and why I think he has the ESTP/FIER Brain type.

I was so excited when they picked Dak. I tweeted with Broaddus, Brugler and the draft show before the draft and told them I thought Dak had the special ESTP brain type. I followed Brain types for years and I've read a few books on it by Niednagel. Dak was the only QB of this year class that looked like an ESTP to me.

Another interesting article that talks about Payton Manning/Ryan Leaf and their brain types

Why was our FO so confident that he would make it to late in the 4th? Only hole in the theory I see. Love Dak's play; he looks likes a find.
What are you talking about? Are you saying they made a mistake drafting him in the 4th and they should have taken him sooner?

gruden qb school, taught him a few key things.
I dont think our coaches did much developing, but someone gets credit for wanting and drafting him.
Dandy, you think a one day camp with Jon Gruden is more responsible for his development than the entire Cowboys off-season program? Surely you are being sarcastic.
