Why are all the "experts" saying Dallas is gonna suck?

I am trying to understand the love affair with the Giants. Their first line didn't get a first down in 2/3 of their possessions this preseason, and they never scored, yet people are actually expecting them to contend for the division?

Its because the Giants have a great QB. Actually they have an OK to good QB who only does well when you surround him with superior talent at every other position. But he is in a lot of TV commercials, so he has to be good.

For the record, I don't think the Cowboys are world beaters, but the rest of the East is average at best and anyone outside of Philly has a shot yet the Cowboys are coming in at the bottom third of the league in these "power rankings".

I would agree on any of the three teams having a shot.

But again, when you have a rookie QB starting, it's clearly a show me type situation. If Prescott ends up having a rookie year struggle, this team very well could be a bottom third team in this league. They were last year with suspect QB play and if Prescott struggles, this team will also struggle. I don't think it's particularly galling to take the "show me" stance.

Personally, I think I'd put them at around 9-7, 10-6 which would put them in that 10-14 range. Ding them a few points for having a rookie QB, and I think a good ranking might be in the 16-18 range until Prescott shows he's the real deal.

What am I missing? Everyone is slobbering over the Commanders, while forgetting the Matt Cassell lead Cowboys beat them last year. While we are still facing the Romoless issues I think we are better on defense with Scandrick, more depth at DT and Byron Jones moving the FS. Better on offense as well with Zeke and a healthy Dez.
Just a bunch of Cowboy haters !!! Those people know Dallas is America's Team !!!! :star::starspin::star:

He needs to go sit on the sofa with his brother and watch the games

They are thinking about the 1-11 record without Romo last year.

If Dak can lead us to a 3-3 record and Tony comes back, we win the East, if we go 0-6 or 1-5 we are probably done.

Rookie quarterback, no pass rush.

We'd be saying the same thing about other teams with those issues. In fact, the Eagles are considered on a similar level because they are starting a rookie QB, but at least they have a fairly proven defensive line.

Who crowned them an expert? They are just people who have their opinions like us ! Who cares what they think - better yet good they think that way they will all be eating their words by week 8.

Glad we are in the underdog roll this year no worries

Because only Cowboy fans believe that a 4th round rookie QB can lead the team to the promised land. Same fans who predicted a 40-3 Cowboy blowout in the Pickle Bowl.

Nope some of us believe we will win in spite of the Red built defense. This offense is going to be super strong. Dak just has to drive the bus and occasionally step on the gas!!!

If Romo were healthy, their ranking wouldn't change.

And while the stats weren't as good, the coaches loved what Dak did at Seattle. Came into the game with zero notice and led two scoring drives against a top defense in a difficult stadium.

I know it's "only" preseason. But that was still the Legion of Boom out there he was playing against.
Funny thing is, they were trying to make a statement in a preseason game and it only ended up being in fine print.

Don't know, don't care. I just know that I like this current team pretty well. I wish we'd handled many things differently this offseason, but I do like Elliott and I love that we might have found a player in Dak. If we hit on both those guys, we'll be a competitive team no matter what the experts think. And we'll be positioned to get a lot better next offseason when we finally have no other choice but to add more talent to the defense.

Even if Dak had to start all season, I think they'd improve on 4-12.
And if Dak starts 6-7 and Romo starts 9-10 , I think they win 9+

Because they lost touch with the sport about a decade ago and have been clinging on to their name value.

Haven't heard any experts say we're gonna "suck." If any have they're probably looking at the fact the Cowboys are 1-13 without Romo the past 3 seasons and we're going with a rookie QB for at least for part of this season. Add on the fact that most think our defense is crap and that explains why there are those who think we'll suck. Offensively we're loaded with talent, even our rookie QB has shown something but on defense we have mostly JAGS.

If Romo were healthy, their ranking wouldn't change.

Can't see that. We were 3-1 with Romo last year. No one in their right mind would expect us to suck with him.

They expect us to suck because we did suck without him last year and now we're relying on a rookie quarterback to make us better than that.

One problem Dak is going to face is he won't be sneaking up on anyone on Sunday because he was the talk of the NFL world in preseason so teams are going to be prepared for him. There's going to be a lot of defenders that are going to be ready to welcome him to the NFL and let him know the regular season is different from the preseason. Dak is going to have to learn how to slide and get out of harms way so he doesn't end up standing next to Romo on the sidelines in street clothes.

Simple: The media consist of mostly cowards afraid to challenge the status quo and risk credibility with their readership. They have subscribed to the fallacy that an injured Romo equals another losing season without considering the difference between this team now and the 2015 rudderless ship that was the Cowboys. But this team is different. Unfortunately, it's going to take more than just one game to sway the masses...but sway they will - I give it 6 weeks before believers start emerging attempting to convince the world they knew from the beginning...
