Why are all the "experts" saying Dallas is gonna suck?

Here's a few reasons why:

1) Teams don't often have a lot of success starting a rookie QB. Sure there are some examples - Flacco, Wilson, Luck - but there are also some examples of a young QBs struggling. This team can't win a lot of games if Prescott struggles. NOTE, I am not saying he will definitely struggle, but he could.

2) The defense has questions. Yes, Jones at FS is nice, Scandrick back is great. But the defensive end spot is really questionable. I mean be honest with yourself.......... if the Commanders, who you think are overrated, trotted out Mayowa, Irving, Crawford and Tapper as their DE rotation to start the season, you'd laugh at them and talk about how they suck.

3) As much as a problem McClain has been, he's better than Hitchens.

Often times when you see rookie QBs do well, such as Wilson, they were supported by good to great defenses. This team does not have a good defense. It has a defense that most Cowboys fans are hoping can at least be better than last year and be around league average to slightly above league average.

So it's not surprising that some experts think this could be a down year. There are actually good reasons to doubt this team. Doesn't mean they will be right but it's not like they don't have a decent rationale for thinking this could be a down year for the Cowboys again.

Outside of Norman, who on the Commanders do you really have to worry about. Sure Kerrigan is a solid player, but not someone that's elite.

How can anyone really say we are better than last years 4-12 season? What have we done to improve? We did nothing in free agency...

Thornton is a complete bust...Durant is window dressing

Our best pass rushers suspended/not resigned.

Mcfadden put up 1100 yards in 11 games or so....So Is Elliot gonna be that much better to propel us???? I have my doubts.

Romo hurt again already...

As for the rest of the draft...I see little help coming.

We didn't take advantage of having one of the top waiver priorities.

And probably most of all...I have little faith in this defensive coaching staff.

Not to sound like a downer...but that is the reality we are facing...
How are they different than the 2014 team that went 12-4

OP, enjoy this time when you can believe what you want and pay no attention to those that would dissuade you from that. We'll know soon enough what we've got.

What am I missing? Everyone is slobbering over the Commanders, while forgetting the Matt Cassell lead Cowboys beat them last year. While we are still facing the Romoless issues I think we are better on defense with Scandrick, more depth at DT and Byron Jones moving the FS. Better on offense as well with Zeke and a healthy Dez.

Hey quiet there, lets fly under the radar the whole season :lmao2:

Jordan Reed.

But I agree with your overall point: our high end talent is better. We also have more holes and less balance, however.

Well the division isn't exactly chock full of Arizona Cardinals or New England Patriots level teams. Other than maybe Philly who has no real supporting cast offensively to help Wentz, the other three teams probably have as good a shot at winning the division as the other teams.

Be careful of putting too much into preseason results. Teams have looked great in preseason and sucked in the regular season and some teams have looked inept in preseason and been fine in the regular season.

Possibly true, but if the Cowboys had a hard time getting even a first down and didn't even manage one point all preseason you can bet it would be used against us and it's not like they were that good last year.

Romo had an MVP candidate season. You make a good point though, now that I go back and look at that roster. On paper, outside of Romo, we actually look a little better. The truth is likely somewhere in the middle of those two seasons.

No knock on Romo, but I think Dak is going to be great for however long he's in there.

You mean on D? Nobody has more balance(outside of pitt) than our offense.

I'm one who believes you win because of high end talent. Especially in this watered down era of football.

Everyone keeps saying we have a rookie QB..blah blah blah...I don't think Dak Prescott is just any rookie. I also think he's a lot better, and its not even close, than what we had out there last year when Romo was injured. Dak will prove it this Sunday.....

Well. If I was betting my paycheck I would bet on them sucking.

I am in the Hope for the best,Expect the worse crowd though.

That's the same group of vultures that have faithfully predicted corruption, doom, and failure...all? Not nearly.

There are challenges to this season, but a strong offense can't be denied...and in a team setting, that means more than a reporting feeling after some stresses are then blown out of proportion.

If Cowboys fans are buying into nothing more than that soap opera, then they either need to educate themselves better or get a bib for the misery...that wasn't a given from this weekend forward.

Preston Smith is a good edge rusher as well opposite Kerrigan. He had 8 sacks as a rookie. He has a chance to be an elite edge rusher in this league.

Note, I am not saying the Skins are great but I think people undervalue them on this board.

It's normal human instinct to defend the Star and endorse the franchise with unconditional support even when there are obvious concerns and questions .

I think what we're seeing is Cowboy fans rallying to the attacks on the current status and analysis coming from the media.

We always want to take an optimistic view when at all possible. Our love for the franchise , team and players naturally weighs on our thoughts much like they would for anyone you love, support and dedicated to.

The current situations we are faced with are drawing these criticisms and concerns from analysist . Surely Cowboy fans have some of the similar concerns and doubts even if they are more optimistic and confident we will have more success than these critics are predicting.

If we were evaluating other teams with our current situations and recent history we might be drawing some of the same similarities in our analysis. It's often very difficult for fans to be as objective with their emotions attached to their own.

Ultimately it's going to be decided on the field . On any given Sunday still applies and we could very well overcome these concerns which are being raised .Dak could be a star in the making along with this defense over achieving but these are factors which are very difficult for most without the emotions attached to project until some evidence or results of the game.

Are you saying Prescott is going to have a MVP type season this year like Romo had in 2014?

For the record, I don't think the Cowboys are world beaters, but the rest of the East is average at best and anyone outside of Philly has a shot yet the Cowboys are coming in at the bottom third of the league in these "power rankings".
