Why do our fans laugh at the Giants' philosophy?

Helluva post and very accurate. The Giants have a better front office and have for many years. They proved it again today. Even the Skins have re-tooled on the fly and become solid again. Eagles? They are probably on the right track as well....meanwhile Jerrah and his buddies slog along. We are clearly behind the Skins and GSpots at this point and time. Eagles might be similar to us: a 6-8 win team depending on the health of the starting QB. Riveting.

And yet, the 4-12 version of the Cowboys managed to beat everyone of the powerhouses.

Udfas are part of the same draft analysis though. Same scouts, same player rankings. Same data wherever available. Why exclude the results of all that work just because there are only 7 rounds in a draft?

And even if we do exclude the udfas, any idea how we stack up league-wide in terms of the picks we make in the seven rounds in the Garrett era? It's not enough to say we should just hit on more picks.

The Giants gave Jenkins and Vernon over $80m guaranteed. They have money to spend because they have drafted poorly like the Pugh and Moore debacle or that RB that is already out of the league. They paid Jenkins over their first rounder Amukamura.

OBJ was a good pick but for the most part their draft picks don't stay with the program. Now they have a new head coach too.

If you want to think they are performing well because they won a SB 5 years ago with a different coach then have fun with that.

I would have considered it. Right now our dline looks very weak. Every team in the league takes risks and overspends time to time. It's the nature of the business. The Cowboys are trying to run the Packers model without their elite scouting department.

Thank you. Our dline as currently constructed is crud. Basically the same sorry ineffective d line as last year minus hardy and gregory for 4 games. If we get an average FA dlineman in FA then we will move up from super extreme sorry dline to just cruudier than last years d line

I'm not laughing at the Giants, but they are taking a huge risk with these big signings. We've seen enough of FA to know it's generally better to sit tight and cherry pick and get most of your improvement through the draft.

My point is that franchise has done it. We haven't it. Broncos proved this year that there are multiple ways to win. Their window is closing with Eli, so they have to speed up the process a bit by being aggressive in FA. Tell me a franchise that won by signing bargain bin jags like Gachkar and Brinkley? It looks like we're heading down that route again this year.

Green bay, Saints, Seattle, Ravens, Patriots have all won superbowls without buying up free agents
