Why do our fans laugh at the Giants' philosophy?

Why? Because we couldn't sign 4-5 third team RBs with that money?

Why? Because it's impossible for a guy like Vernon to live up to that contract. As a Cowboys fan you shouldn't even ask why. Jerry has signed so many players to big deals and then those contracts almost ALWAYS come back to bite you in the butt. I thank my lucky charms that Jerry has turned over a new leave and is avoiding big name free agents.

When they are the ones who have won 2 super bowls the last decade? Where does the hubris come from? 2014? lol

One team in the division is going all out to win a Super Bowl for their aging quarterback. I don't want to hear about "Romo friendly" anymore. I don't want to hear about the "Romo/Witten window". The franchise's non-actions today show they are not desperate to win for these two.

u probably sd the same thing that year when phily had the dream team?? man Stephen told u from the get go they are not spending big in free agency this yr, so what u mad about when he told what there plan was and is.... which is to build from the draft and also that oline has to get paid pretty soon too boss... so im cool with chillin a lil that's y we need Zeke or Henry stop playing and get an elite back behind this line so that pass rush can be limited, let that line run block more cause Giants looks like they got something on that dline.

I can see why the giants are doing this. They are selling out to win one more while Eli's window is still open. Now watch them move up and grab Elliot

Well, there are 31 other NFL teams out there and 31 other Fan boards you can mosey over to. Jerry and Stephen own
the team, make huge amounts of money, and aren't likely to give up the golden goose that easily. You should probably
take a vacation from this board and find a new team you'd like to root for.

Ah, the holier than thou fan card.

A lot more aggressive than normal, considering my post was not entirely negative

Perhaps you should mosey to another board since since clearly can't play well with others

Yep, it worked great hasn't it?

Short answer? Because, like us, they two had opportunity to watch what happened to the Eagles when they employed this strategy.

Interesting considering at this time last year I am sure some of the homer fans here was laughing at the "cap hell" the Eagles put themselves into with deals to Murray and Maxwell.

And yet, yesterday, they unwound all that damage for little financial pain, dumped underperforming trash they didn't want and was able to convince the Dolphins to take that trash and be rewarded by being able to move into the Top 10 in the draft.

Oh, and they still had more cap space than we do.

Maybe their GM is just smarter at structuring contracts than ours is.

I don't think it's accurate to say that they "unwound" all that damage. They have unloaded horrible contracts with Murray and Maxewell and Alonzo but they have also taken dead cap hits. They didn't trade all of those contracts straight up. They also got rid of some very good talent to fit these guys they just shipped out and, they still have holes. If that is what you get when you "Unwind" the damage, I think I'd probably rather be broken.

The dead cap hits were negligible in the sense that they could still be uite active in free agency this year.

And they got rid of one good player in all of this............. McCoy, when they traded him for Alonso. That's really it. So when you survey the landscape right now, for all the damage they apparently did to their franchise last year signing big name free agents, they seem to have come out a little bruised but certainly not scarred.

What is your definition of Negligible? I don't know that anybody would say that the Eagles are in a better situation then we or that they have made wise decisions on players or coaches. I think they are in a much worse situation then they were prior to Chip. I would also say that NY is not in an ideal situation either. Spending big money to plug holes is not the way to do it. I'm glad we are no longer embracing that model.

1. They won with players THEY drafted and GOOD coaching.
2. They had $50 plus million of free money to spend. Per the CBA they had to spend x %.
3. Their GM was given an ultimatum by the owner.

Giants didn't win two super bowls making these kind of moves. These are moves of desperation and they rarely work out.

Try NEVER EVER EVER WORK. Fans just don't understand. I get it. It's fun and flashy to throw money around the first day of FA.

And as far the the Giants and their Super Bowls. You can't buy luck and theirs clearly has run out.

The Giants are absolutely overpaying for some of these guys. But when you almost set a record with allowing 297.1 yards passing per game, something drastic has to be done. I am fine with whom they have signed. Not happy with the numbers but it was necessary. And hey, they still have $26million to play with. Giving this defense to Spags should be interesting.
