That means nothing when talking about Romo. But hey knock yourself out. He has a lot to prove to me yet.

So what must you see to know, 'Hey, this is our guy.'

A good playoff game? Two straight good years? A decade's worth?

Brady did make lots of mistakes in his first year (as a bus driver), but maintained his composure and relied on his defense to bail him out. Same for Manning.

I was actually shocked by the fact that Romo was flinging the ball around when he first started. I thought BP would relegate him to "bus driver" status, like he has done with other QBs. Even after a bad performance, BP didn't put the leash on Romo.

This tells me that the guy will be our QB for a very long time. It seems uncharacteristic of BP to not put the leash on a young QB with so few starts.

Eh, it's nothing new.

People here have downplayed McNabb, Manning, Brady and every other great quarterback. It happens.

Opposing fans typically see every flaw, and focus much less on the good qualities.
pure jealousy.

the guy came in under BRUTAL circumstances (benched ineffective veteran, 3 game road trip) and lit up the league, going 6-2 thus far 4-1 on the road.

he's also a likable guy, CHEAP and stunned cowboy haters who were happy we couldn't find a servicable QB since well before Troy left. THAT'S GOTTA HURT fans of other teams ;)

ps - McPuke is far from "great" as you can see for yourself philly is resurrected in his absence.

This is BAsically Romos Rookie Year. HE came to us Raw as hell and Now He finally has game time. HE will get better with each game He Plays.

And I'm not talking about Him throwing more Tds or Yards every game...Dont be foolish!. People that think this way obviously have never played competitive sports before.

Romo is the Man and has the best quality of them all...He's Clutch!

Enough said.

This is a good take.

You see on other boards people talking about how his numbers are bound to come down.

Well, duh.

I highly doubt the guy is going to float through the league with a 100 passer rating for his entire career. If he is, we might as well start sculpting his bust now to save the time.

But the throw-by-throw quality should imrpove. Already, you see an improvement in his decision making.

Remember that sack he took on the final play of the first half in the Atlanta game? You could tell he pumped his arm and thought about throwing to Barber on the screen, despite being on the verge of getting sacked. Instead, he refused to make an impulse throw.

That's a throw he made, and got intercepted on, in his first NFL appearance against the Giants.

Realistically, the guy's passer rating can't drop to 75 or so for the remainder of his career and him still be considered a great player. He's got to maintain a consistent level of superior play in order to remain respected. But the top or second-highest rating? That's not quite expected or necessary.

Quite simply its that other teams are jealous and scared that Romo will return us to our glory days of dominating and winning SuperBowls. Deep inside they know that with all the young talented players we have and now with finally a Franchise QB that we will win multiple SB's in the next 10 years!

Ain't it funny how the folks who think 8 games is too small a sample to judge him by, are the same ones who pick out one or two bad games and start judging?

performance up untill now?

im talking about opposing teams fans, not cowboy fans.

Every message board i come across most of them say well he will only get worse once defenses figure him out, he is a flash in the pan, he is only doing good because he has great weapons around him.

it makes me mad, that Romo isnt getting any credit by opposing fans:mad:

How does this surprise you? Cowboys fans are just as guilty downplaying opposing team players. I could give a frick about what the media, non-Dallas fans think about the team. I don't need the validation. Watching them execute, perform well, and win is all the validation I need...

Maybe so but I don't think you give us "opposing" fans much credit. Outside of your division rivials i dont think many of us feel more threatened by the cowboys potential than any other team.
What it really comes down to is this: The cowboy's and their fans enjoy the whole America's team thing, but that is a double edged sword. You received more praise than other teams in your same position this year, so its only natural that after all the praise romo received that skeptics would come out to oppose this viewpoint.
Brady had to win a superbowl before he was shoved down opposing fan's throats this much...

A Playoff win followed by a good year next year.

It has already been mentioned but the it has to do with the fact he does not have many games under his belt as of yet. For people to consider him a top ranked QB he will have to do it over the course of time.

I mean, come on, this board does ot all the time to opposing teams QB's especially in the NFC east.

It is a common occurence with opposing teams fans.

Just look at what the way this board trashes McNabb.

Funny how that works, We have fans that trash other players but get offended when our own is trashed? :laugh2:

he is on my team and I am not sold on him yet. I don't think it is that big of a stretch for a fan of another team to feel the same way.

The point of this thread is that Romo is getting trashed by opposing fans. You as a Cowboy's fan are just not sold yet, and would like to see more. Nothing wrong with that.

But the other fans from other teams are giving him no credit because Tony happens to play for a "love em or hate em" franchise in the Dallas Cowboys.

For me it's simple. Tony is showing what he is capable of doing and looks to have squashed the idea that he is merely a flash-in-the-pan. Sure I want to see what he can do with a full offseason to prepare as the starter and a full season as the QB of the Dallas Cowboys, but you can't take for grantid what Tony has done in a short amount of time.

Tony has basically helped transform this team from a self-destructing, .500, underachieving team, into a team that has rallied together, and finds themselves possibly winning the NFC East, and heading into the playoffs where anything can happen.

This is not meant to insult you okay. You're naive if you think all football fans feel the same way about every player. You're even more naive if you think every fan of other teams are going to see greatness in our players and gush about them.

It just doesn't happen. You name a player and somewhere out there you will find people critical of his talent. I suppose the closest you could come to that not happening might be LaDanian Tomlinson this year. I'd still bet you could find fans who will say "I'd rather have______________."

Do you ooh and ahh over every Commanders player having a good season? Every Eagles player having a good season? Every Giants player having a good season? If your answer is "no" to any one of the questions above then the question becomes "why do you expect something of others that you yourself will not do?"

Fans by nature are skeptical. Vince Young has rallied the Titans. I don't see the entire football watching world enamored with Vince Young. There are still doubters. Frank Gore has had a remarkable rushing year. I don't see football fans all over the world wishing they could get Frank Gore. There are still doubters.

Oh, and one more thing. Romo is getting some credit among opposing fans, just not every single one of them. You see, opposing fans are no different than us. Some of us here will give Jeff Garcia credit this week for the resurrection of the Eagles after McNabb went down. Some of us will denounce everything he does as a product of the WCO.

No player is universally loved and praised by all. Not even Tony Romo. Try not to be mad. The less of these  we have to see, the better. ;)

I didn't say it was a fact, just that I am right. Some opinions are right and based on factual information others are based on crap we pull out of our butts to make us feel better about our situation.
Very rich. I see your bias against Romo have spilled over here from dallascentral.com, except over there, the staff members and members has been ridiculing you for your unsubstantiated opinion.

I could clearly tell when some one is pulling crap out of their arse to fit their argument...
