Bengal broke through because they were smart enough to tear it down and suck for a while. We're not even smart enough to do that.

Because they draft the players and manage the cap. That sounds like a GM to me. I'm also fairly certain they, like most teams, have people that evaluate talent. Then the Jones boys draft based on those evaluations.

I'm not sure what your question is? They believe they can do it because they're doing it.

You actually dialed in, and that is exactly how billionaires play FF.

AS Owners, they really don't "Owe" us anything. One would suppose they'd want to put a quality product out there for consumption but - and herein lies the rub, the people keep buying .. for whatever reason regardless of the product.. It's really that simple.

They really don't understand what a quality product is in the NFL.

Because they own the team and big money makes you delusional.

Narcissism is a self-centered personality style characterized as having an excessive interest in one's physical appearance and an excessive pre-occupation with one's own needs, often at the expense of others
    sounds like jerry alright!

    Great post !
I think they never set a limit for themselves as they thought they didnt need one.
Now had they won a few SB's they might now hire a GM, but I doubt it , as they love what they do regardless if they keep failing.

They have already made fools of themselves, by doing this for so long with no success.
I guess they think if they can win a SB it erases the previous 27 failures?

    Ha yep!

Jerry jokes aside, I didn't really buy it as an actual condition until I had to deal with it close and personal.

I just thought it was a name to call a selfish person.

They are not the worst at GMing their team, not close. They are just not the best at it and most do not like their approach in FA.

Let’s be fair. If they’d dropped big bucks and whiffed in FA, they would be catching more heat.

They draft well in the 1st but not so great after with the OL. Is this on their selections or their selection of scouting? They do not build their own board, McClay and the scouts do.

They don't realize that if they ever win....99% of people would say "a broke clock is right twice a day". I doubt I will even be elated....it would be more relief!

I can't agree. If a person always buys used cars, does that automatically mean he's broke? What the Jones boys are doing is intentional. They're getting the results they want. The team is mediocre to solid almost every year. And sometimes they get years like 2014 and 2016. Their system prevents a Jets, Browns, or Lions type franchise. As a business model, maybe they're just happy with that.

I dont think it is a business model .
The way things are set up jerry will make a ton of money even if they went 0-17 for 5 years in a row.

The jones boys are trying to win a sb, they are just inept at doing it.

LOL you might be right. But that would be the totally stupid of them. They have a standard path and do not sway from it. That tells me they are not trying to win a SB. Just trying to be mediocre to good. If they break out in a season, all the better.
