Why in the heck would we spend a 4th on a player that won't even make the team?

Dwayne Bowe just signed with KC, does that mean he can't contribute this year either? C'mon there's still a little over a month left until the season starts.

bowe is a wr already. Stanback is a qb converting. I am not dogging him by any means....Your misunderstanding what I said.

I dont think there is any need to rush him because he is really not needed. He should be left to get healthy and learn the position through practice and then hopefully make a contribution after thanksgiving or so.

The bowe point makes no sense because it is completely different. So please read what I wrote again and understand what I said. I never said he wont make the team, I never said he shouldnt, I am simply saying there is no hurry. Austin and hurd can get opportunities before him, and austin is an incredible athlete who is a year ahead of stanback and should get a really good look in august.

It won't bother me in the least, because I put about as much stock in a kicker as I can kick a piano for distance. I hate them all. I have no more faith in a vet like Grammy than I would with a rookie like Folk. I find that thinking ridiculous, but to each his own.

That is exactly what I think about kickers. You better don't need them to kick a relevant field goal.

Ok, I get all the fun with the "Rook" and the "Hate the D*** kicker" thing. But All of this is still concern for the new season. Just one artical I read but I still have my own opinion.

Dallas Drafts Isaiah Stanback To Play WR, But There’s One Problem: He Can’t Run or Cut

So you put him on IR, and hopefully he's healthy enough to contribute next year...

Naw, that couldn't POSSIBLY be what the Cowboys were thinking when the Cowboys drafted a guy comin' off a Lis Franc injury...

:laugh2:

People forget about Canty when they drafted him. They figured he would play this year but if not they were going to put him on IR to heal up.

It is not like this is something that has never happened because they had that mindset with canty.

Stanback is the odd man out! Still not healthy and deep in rank Stanback better hope some luck is on his side. Owens,Glenn,Crayton,Hurd, then Austin,Rector, urban. The return should be Austin and Thompson. What gives?

It is disappointing that he has not gotten out on the field and it could be he will be placed on the PUP if he is unable to get some training camp in. The reason they drafted him is simple they see great athletic ability in him, wether he lives up to it or not is yet to be determined.

well for what it is worth, since everyone seems to be bashing me for saying not needing him, I said pup'd which means 8 weeks from when he goes on it.

IR means the whole season. I dont think there would be any reason to put him on IR. I think there are lots of reasons to put him on the pup list though.

I agree if he can't go by the end of TC PUP him and see what he can do later. We have plenty of wr's and returners.

I am going to laugh at all the stripped gears when people reverse directions the first time this kid does something that makes their jaws drop. You guys think Tyson Thompson and Miles Austin are fast? They'll look slow next to this guy, and he is bigger.

I agree.....

However, Thompson is very fast.....

Do you really believe Stanback is that much faster then Thomspon Hos?

Hopefully Stanback can make a few people miss instead of running straight ahead until tackled.

Stanback is a physical freak CC. In that regard he reminds me very much of Herschell Walker. Now, I'm not saying he will be as good as Herschell. Just that for his size he is incredibly fast.

IMO, if Stanback, Thompson, and Austin raced each other for 100 yards, Stanback would win by at least 5 yards.

Plenty of Punt Returners?

Newman and Crayton are our PRs. Neither is a full time PR. That's what we want Stanback to become.

Newman is situational; Crayton the "master of the Fair Catch."

I don't want to see Stanback on PUP. I want to see him practicing.

Austin could return punts if needed.....I would assume

It doesn't look like they are rushing him to me Theebs. It looks to me like they are making sure he's all the way back. We've got guys on the ground at Camp who have seen the guy run already and they say it's amazing.

I predict he will play in all 4 pre-season games which means the PUP isn't an option.

Stripped gears.

everybody wants to see him practice. I think it sucks that I am not going to get to see him thursday night. He is one of the guys I am looking forward to watching, I really wanted to see him and austin line up at wide out get down the field.

however, there is no need to hurry someone who was injured last year and has a new minor problem. he looks to be the guy to replace crayton on this team so he is going to need to play this year at some point but when health is concerned and he is learning to do two new things, play wr and return kicks you cant put him on the field with no or little camp.

that is all I have been saying, there is no hurry so wait till he is prepared.

Crayton didnt play much in 04, even when glenn was out. It takes a while for the transistion. there is no need to jeopardize him anymore.

I am hoping he practices a few days this week and plays against denver, i want to see him running in person, particularly with the ball in the open field like a reverse or screen etc. I just wouldnt rush him because he was drafted in the 4th round and people keep bringing up skyler green, he has nothing to do with isiah stanback.

I don't know if Stanback is that much faster than Thompson in a straight line. Now have them do a race where they zig zag down the field and Stanback will win by a lot. Thompson has no wiggle and would lose speed as he changed directions where Stanback looks great carrying the ball.

Stanback is a project. He has a long way to go, but first he needs to get healthy. I wasn't expecting immediate returns on the guy and if he does contribute this season that is only a bonus in my eyes.
