It seems like the only criticism you don't like is criticism of Dak, and I wasn't even being critical of him. We've been winning with Rush is my only point. If we keep winning with him, then I think it would be best for several reasons to ride that out. One of them isn't that I think he's the better QB or that the players think he's the better QB. There's something to be said for sticking with the hot hand until it isn't hot anymore.

I can see the logic behind what you are saying, but let's say this team squeaks out 2-3 more wins in a row and finds itself in a position for HFA and the bye.. but continues to get this 21 points a game and 280 yards of offensive output. We all that is not sustainable long term.. unless this defense truly is the 2000 Ravens.. The Cowboys know that at some point they're going to need the offense to win a shootout.. Or at least put up 30 points. Each game Rush plays writes another page in the book on him. Eventually NFL DCs figure everybody out.. and unless you expand your game, the door gets slammed on you pretty quick. People have been claimed all last year that DCs have figured Dak out and that's why he struggled down the stretch. Maybe they have.. but what have we seen from Rush to believe he's capable of getting the offense to anywhere near that 30 ppg level?

It's a balancing act to be sure.. Bench Rush and re-insert Dak risks losing because Dak has completely lost it.. but holding Dak out while Rush ekes out coin-flip wins against teams that Dak has consistently blown out is playing 160 million dollar roulette.. Most of us know that if the Rams find their groove the Cowboys can't beat them with Rush at the helm. At the same time we know that with Dak we have a chance to beat them even at their best. Now if Rush comes out here and strafes the Rams for 300 yards and 3 TDs and the Cowboys spank them.. then follows it up with a similar performance against Philly... I will be more than willing to have that "hot hand" conversation. But to this point Rush isn't so much a "hot hand" as he has been a "not frostbitten" hand. He's been okay.. but he has not done anything to make me want him as my long term starter.

Did anyone here mention that one of the teams Rush led us to a win has a 4-1 record? As in the giants.

I wasn’t sure if anybody posted that Rushs Cowboys put up 23 points against the 4-1 Giants while Arron Rodgers Packers could only muster 22 points against them.

Nobody overlooking this little tidbit? Right?
Somebody did mention that, actually. Copycat! Although, that might've been in the Early Game thread.

Back to the video…they are talking about taking snaps in the shotgun vs under center. Isn’t it true that Aikman hated the shotgun? Even in 3rd and long he preferred being under center.

Yes Aikman absolutely hated shotgun as well. He didn't like having to take his eyes off the defense to find the ball.. Most QBs who dislike shotgun dislike it for that reason. Like I said, the modern guys don't know any better because pretty much every team at every level from Pee Wee to college uses it almost exclusively now.

The Cowboys lost time of possession against Washington and CIncy by over 8 minutes apiece.. Please explain how this equates to ball control?
According to the numbers you posted, neither of those had an 8 minute difference. 6 or 7 is still a lot, but I think your math is off a bit.

I'm surprised I've never heard Romo say he hated it, considering how many times the ball was snapped too high to reach it, or before he was even looking for it.

TOP isn’t the only aspect of ball control. Fewer penalties = less 3 and outs, no turnovers and there were some sustainable drives even though some didn’t result in TD’s.

Our offense was allegedly 1st last year...and what did it do for us?: Got our Ax bounced out right quick.

So your cute little offense ranking STAT doesn't mean sheet.

But you go ahead and keeping hating on Cooper to elevate Dak.
Rush is playing great for a backup. But come on man, he wouldn’t be a starter on any team in the NFL. Do you even watch the games?

Yeah I guess I was do bad rounding in my head.. Cincy was 7:36 and Wash was 6:12. I remembered we had lost TOP pretty bad in those games but was blown away at how bad it was. But the fact that people are claiming that the Cowboys with Rush are "moving the ball and winning TOP" does highlight the extent to which people see what they want to see.

If I'm not mistaken the Cowboys have lost time of possession in most of these games..

Washington - 33:06 - Dallas 26.54
NYG 27:18 - Dallas 32:42
Cincy 33:48 - Dallas 26:12

So they won TOP against the Giants.. but got hammered against Cincy and Washington. I do NOT want Dak to play this way.. I want him to play this style.. but a lot better..
And he will because he IS a lot better. I think this is what has most fans excited about this 2022 season.

All the talk about “riding the hot hand” and “let him play until he loses” is missing the point completely.

There is no “hot hand” unless you’re talking about Kellen Moore.

They are. Rush is a good backup but he wouldn’t start on any team.

It’s the usual suspects that touted Dalton when he stepped in. Rush is playing well for a backup. Defense is playing elite level right now.

Yeah, the Dak haters. It just goes to show that they have no clue what they’re talking about by hating on Dak and thinking Rush is the better QB.
