Twitter: Why our offense has been more effective lately

I haven't been saying that.

I only feel that if we're winning, we should wait to reinsert Dak until after we lose rather than possibly disrupting the run, especially in either of these next two games when we're facing possibly two of our toughest opponents. For instance, we might lose to the Rams whether we started Rush or Dak, but if we lost in Dak's first start back, the optics would look worse since we've won our three games starting Rush. Better to wait until Rush loses to turn it back over to Dak. If for some reason we don't lose either of these next two games, we could put him back in against Detroit, But I'd be hesitant to remove a quarterback who has been part of five straight victories at that point. Eventually, the time will come to have Dak take back over and if it doesn't, that means we've won all of our games, which would be a good thing no matter who is at QB.

I look forward to seeing what the offense can do when Dak gets back, especially if the defense is still playing at this high level. I do have some concerns, though, that he hasn't looked that great since his calf injury last year. If he can get back to being the QB he was at the beginning of last year, we'll be tough to handle.
Good post, but it's sad that "optics" have to play a part.

If QB #1 is ready to play, then you play him. If he's not then you don't. That's the way it should be regardless of the opponent. The moment he's cleared and feels good he should be starting.

This isn't about Dak vs. Rush, it's about the way it should be handled. Much like I believe Romo should have returned as the starter, the same should go for Dak now. If he's the guy that puts the eggs in your basket, then let him.

Not directed at you, because I believe you are right. But pathetic that we have to worry about optics.

They’ve been winning because of the defense. Wake up.

Funny that you completely discount Rush because it's not your precious Dak leading the offense.....but when Dak was leading the offense it was the fault of the defense, or coaches, or o-line, or special teams. etc.

Some people are so obvious with their Dak first loyalty.

He missed one game last year.

Played 16+1 in the playoffs. 5 in 2020. That is 17.

He missed 12 in 2020 and 3 so far this year.

I count 22 games played and 15 missed.

Facts matter.

Last 23 games (regular and playoff) played with Dak Dallas has a record of 13-10 .565 Win %

Last 15 games (regular) played without Dak Dallas has a record of 8-7 .533 Win %

Sadly not much of a difference in terms of wins and losses with or without Dak

Their is growing faction of people here that have jumped on the anybody but Dak train that has currently been driven by Rush .

If you look at the names you will see they are mostly consistent with the 4 years of Dak denying.

Winning masks a lot of things and once the defense don’t hold the other team low enough for coopers led offense to win they’ll jump back off that train

I keep hearing that cooper exposed Dak lol. I don’t see it. If coop wins the next 2 then we may be able to have a reasonable discussion

that’s a stretch in this place though

He got knocked out of game 1 and will miss this game too, you didn't count those facts.

and more importantly he's trending in games missed as his career continues and less mobile than before as a result of it

Trends matter as well.

Amazing how it matters now but not so much with previous qb to some . Regardless as long as we win it will keep some of the cackling hens on this site quiet ( maybe perhaps they’re even louder )

you’re right about one thing trends do have an impact and Daks injury history is beginning to be an issue

That is what the phrase "so far" means. He will miss the next two, which will still make the statement "he missed more games in the last 3 years that he has played" False.

sheer technicality, Kenneth. I never quibble about a trivial, game or 2 difference , when portraying a trending situation. Now when it comes to a quarterback playoff record, say a 1-3 record, I think it’s more important to be precise on the numbers.

let’s see if I can use it in a sentence. “ Although Joe Burrow came in with a 3-1 playoff record and SB appearance, Lil Cooper Rush was still able to quarterback his Dallas Cowboys to a victory over the Bengals”

The offense is bottom half of the NFL in several categories. Defense, as Rush himself said, has been winning games.

This place is funny. Cowboys can lose 49-38 and people complain about the QB. Cowboys can win 20-16 and people praise the QB.

Tell me you have a rudimentary understanding of football, without telling me you have a rudimentary understanding of football.
Funny. I got one for you…

Tell me you didn’t watch the video without telling me you didn’t watch the video.

This video wasn’t about Rush being better than Dak or even about the Cowboys offense, in particular. This wasn’t First Take. There’s no Steven A Smith. It’s definitely not about the 25th ranked offense in 2022 being better than the #1 ranked offense from (most of) 2021. That’s crazy.

**For the microwave society folks who lack the patience to watch an 8 minute video about football…The video is about the benefits of taking snaps under center and utilizing play action.**

This is something the team could do better when Dak returns. Folks can argue (stupidly) about Rush being better than Dak and his “anticipation” and “pocket presence” being superior (which is nonsense) but in my mind, it ain’t about that.

It’s about the play calling and keeping defenses off balance that helps maintain a clean pocket when you got all the new pieces on the O line and at wideout and a legit defense that can wreck the opposing team’s gameplan. This gives you a chance to win every week.

The right play calling must persist when Dak is back for the team to reach its true potential. No more hero ball. No more Peyton Manning BS at the line of scrimmage. Simply that thing. More heavy sets and and 12 personnel. It’s ok to run plays with just two receivers.

This was the point of the original post. Some folks have come in here and perverted the point. It was never about Cooper Rush being better than Dak Prescott. The folks that think that in any regard just ain’t watching the games.

Defense has been able to keep offense in games. Dallas is 30th in 3rd down conversions, we are 27th in points per game. Upside we have the fewest turnovers per game

That 3 point season opener against the Bucs really skewed the offensive numbers.

Dallas is probably 16 to 20th in offense the last 3 games.

We beat one team with a winning record.
That is not too meaningful after 4 games. First off we only played 1 team out of 4 with a losing record. And in order for a team we beat to have a winning record after 4 games they would need to be 3-0 in games other than ours. So if you take our game out of it, the teams we beat have the following records: 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, 1-2. Not so bad IMO. I'm not saying we played a tough schedule so far, but just rebutting the comment about beating one team with a winning record.

I don't know, I guess you'd have to go back to the last time we had a "hot hand" at QB to answer that question.

this was clearly I don't want to give an answer because I will get cornered type of answer so you give the most non-answer answer possible.

its called a diversion.
