The reasons we lost today are mainly the same problems we have been witnessing in spurts for some time now . . . . but here it goes.

1. Penalties

2. Turnovers on offense, and on defense we're having problems this year forcing them.

3. Bad Special Teams coverage units.

4. Poor tackling.

5. Team doesn't appear to be ready to play.

6. For whatever reason, we keep playing undisciplined, sloppy football.

Unfortunately or fortunately, the guy who is going to take the fall is the HC.

Look, for all of JJ's faults, and he has them, he HAS put together a pretty good cast of players this year, all in all.

I think MOST people agree that there is talent on this team.

But for whatever reason, the team is playing poorly.

Maybe it's time to go back to pads and hitting during the week :banghead: ....

I had doubts about this team getting to the Super Bowl, but the playoffs?? And no, injuries do not tell the whole story.

I'm not losing hope until I see German Zeros on the horizon.

German Zeros? OK Bluto. Is that what they used to bomb Pearl Harbor?;)

Nailed it, Woods. Great post.

There's really no excuse for this team to be playing the way it is.

Sadly, and I mean this, I sometimes watch these games and think the results would be no different if the players just studied by themselves during the week and went out and drew up plays during the game.

I can't recall too many instances this year where I have felt the coaching staff gave us an extra edge.

Look, given our poor tackling, miscues on defense, lack of uninspired play, etc., etc., maybe we need to get a bit more physical in our preparation.

No one is saying that the offense and defense should scrimmage each other 4 days a week, but heck, they need to raise the tempo a bit.

Another great point. Anyone who uses injuries as an excuse for this season is just as weak minded as this team.

I'm still confident this team does go to the SuperBowl and yes, injuries do tell most of the story.

Let me ask you an honest question.

And I'm really not trying to be a doomsayer and "Mr. Negative".

But do you really believe this team has the HEART of a champion?

I just haven't seen it. I hope it's there. But I really don't see it.

Ignorance is bliss. I hope Jerry doesn't think like you.

I was very down after last week's loss to Arizona, especially after all the injury reports came flooding in. However, by the middle of the week and after the Roy Williams trade, I started to be more positive. I felt sure we'd beat the Rams and then Tampa Bay at home, setting us up at 6-2 going into our first showdown with the Giants. At that point, I figured Romo and some of the others would be back in the lineup and we'd be fine, especially considering we would have our bye after the Giant's game. I thought we'd be O.K. going into our bye at 6-3 or even 7-2 (a longshot I agree). HOWEVER, today's display was maybe the most disgusted I've ever been as a Cowboy fan. I turned 46 last week and no one that has ever lived has ever been a bigger fan than I have. I have to say this team is the biggest underachieving, heartless, gutless, and leaderless team in the history of the Cowboys, maybe even the whole league. No team has more physical talent, but this group just doesn't get it. I certainly have no idea what the problems are, but I imagine they start with the headcoach. We get beat at home by the Skins, and you'd think that would get our attention. We follow it up by pulling out a close game AT HOME against the terrible Bengals, and you'd think that would get their attention. We follow that up with a loss against the Cardinals, and you would think that would get their attention. Why does anyone think a loss to one of the worst three teams in the league will get their attention????? We have extremely talented players, but they're heartless and not very smart. Personally, and I hope I'm wrong, I see this team tanking from here on out. The locker room will turn sour, the coaches will be what they've always been (clueless), and at this rate 8-8 is looking pretty good. Again, I hope I'm wrong, but has anyone out there seen ANYTHING that should make me think any differently??

jobber, are you really disappointed that noone wants to dwell on bad we look?

I don't want them to dwell on it. Why did we get down so fast? Why couldn't we come back? Why? Don't say we suck or need a new coach.

Do you think that BJ was asked to make throws he couldn't make?

Why did Jackson turn the corner on us twice. There is a reason and it's not cause they don't care, play with intensity etc. There is a football reason for it.

That's what I'd personally like to talk about. The Xs and Os.

By the way, some of you are blaming injuries for our loss. We didn't have the injuries last week, or against the Bengals or Skins. Every team has injuries. Yes, we've been hit particularly hard, but that is not an excuse. To get the hell beat of us by a terrible team is just embarrassing.

There were reasons why they gave up big plays and reasons why the offense was not run well by Johnson. Those and turnovers were the reasons why we lost. And I'm the biggest fan but I bet you are, too. There are many big fans here all disgusted as you.

Being disgusted and mad will help you for awhile but it won't help this team win the TB game. They had better address the problems.

Unfortunately, in terms of the ratio of talent to production the past few games, this is one of the worst showings I've ever seen.

And I've been a fan since 1976.

I didn't see the game, but I can probably guess that Garrett still had the O play to a vertical passing attack

if so, Brad just doesn't have the arm to succeed in that, and for some reason our Oline can't give the QB, Romo or Brad, enough time in that situation, and our receivers aren't getting open fast enough

just a guess, but Garrett is so one-dimensional that I think its pretty close

Well before the thread gets highjacked by the change the coach or entire defensive scheme why don't we talk some football about what actually happened today.

We have players that are talented but some of them are not very bright. Like Gurode for instance. This game went south after yet another errant mis-timed snap pinning us deep on our side of the field.

When Johnson ocassionally threw deep or long in this early afternoon game not only were our receivers waiting for it until sunset but so did the entire opposing defense.

Is this twilight zone scheming rather than 3-4 because it sure seems Rod Serling is trapped in a whie haired fat man's body. A number of defenders look either terrified or confused.

I know we are decimated by injuries but this team looks tentative. I am probably reading into things too much but it seems many of our players don't believe or care about our season goals anymore.

There's nothing any of us can do to help the team beat Tampa Bay, unfortunately. And I don't see them having enough to do it themselves. At this point, it looks like we'll be 4-5 going into our bye. I don't think there's anyone in the world that would've thought this could happen. But, HELLO, there it is.
