Will Dez ever be elite again?

Dez got held a couple of times today. 1 was so-so, but the other was definitely PI that wasn't called (in the endzone).

I'd still rather go into a game w/ Dez than without.
Dez needs receiver boot camp.

What did that have to do with this week? I have tried to be fair to Dez. He has good an bad. I can't help it if you want to defend everything he does. He's not perfect folks. Sometimes he's not even good.

So he needs to play a vital role in every win?

The reality is he impacts the game even when he's not thrown to as he draws coverage to him.

How did you like that easy TD pass to Beasley today?

Dez a great home run hitter because it doesn't matter if he's beaten his man or not. He can out battle defenders.

But asking a rookie quarterback to throw into a crowd--esp. a move-the-chains risk-averse quarterback like Dak...

Prescott clearly doesn't have a high comfort level with Bryant.

I suspect it will improve some. But Bryant isn't going to see the volume of passes that he saw with Romo. He just isn't.
I agree. I think it's fair to say that Dez may not be a perfect fit for this particular version of the Cowboys. But he can still contribute. Fans get mad when a player's production doesn't match his contract, but that's not important right now.

I was actually only saying that Beasley's numbers are largely up because he's been virtually the only decent option at WR for Dallas since Dez was out. And his numbers are up because the guys at QB last year were Weeden and Cassel.
...and because he catches everything thrown his way.

Dez will be hard pressed to get back to the productive level we saw in 2014 with Dak at QB. Dak is going to throw to the open receiver and he's not going to target Dez as much as Romo or take as many chances down the field to him. Romo is a gunslinger who was willing to risk picks for TD's. Dak protects the football and has developed some good chemistry with Witten and Beasley who are reliable receivers who know how to get open.

I think it's up to LInehan to create plays for Dez.

Again, like we've seen all season though, there were pass today that Dak missed (either INC or didn't see the man) that are plays/passes that Romo hits.

Dak's still developing and I don't think he realizes just yet what an asset he has in Dez

No. Scotty can't warp Dez someplace else but that's not really reality is it? Are you going to pretend that Dez didn't have a weak minded meltdown today? Don't you expect more of your boy than that?

Are you going to understand what a "meltdown" is or are you going to continue exaggerating. We used to use the word frustrated before people started eating up media bull.

You're off the mark on this. Watch the games, analyze and understand and then post.

On the first one, totally. It was a ton of contact and it should have been PI.

The second one? Come on dude. If that's PI, there would be 20 PI penalties a game. He should have caught that for a touchdown.

The second one the corner was holding Dez's arm. Do you even understand the rules?

I have been pretty fair to Dez if you have read all of my posts in this thread. Dez' weak minded ******** today really needs to stop. It is a distraction.

I will give Dez credit at the end of the game by saying the right things. I'm just not comfortable with the tone in his voice when he said it.

He is supposed to be a veteran leader but instead he is a weak minded distraction. I expect more out of our alleged top 5 receiver (sarcasm).

It's really quite simple. Dez needs to show up for meetings, subscribe to what Dak is dishing, quit giving weekly updates as to Rooms status like he his physical therapist, and start following the Bease around everywhere he goes hoping someone of it rubs off.

Yeah, you did.

I broke it down play by play on Dez's highlight reel...when he WAS making catches...and not just this year...

He's a home run hitter. He can make plays other guys can't. But he's got very average speed...below average quickness...and he runs way-below average routes.

He gets open. Highlight reels mean nothing. The eye in the sky doesn't lie.

It was weak minded ********. Even Dak had to come over and try to settle him down. I understand the frustration. That's reasonable. But you don't see Witten act like that or throw a tantrum on the sideline. Be an apologist for him if you want. I personally don't think it is Ok.

If we are going to keep Dez around we have to figure out a way to get him effectively and efficiently in the game or part with him and soon. He meltdown will start to gain momentum if we don't get him some success and soon.
