My opinion at least you understand that, as for what he’s capable of most have a pretty good idea based on his history
I’m so freaking frustrated. My personal opinion is getting killed on both sides of the ball in the pits. And that’s not an easy fix because that’s 10 players.

Will Mc has the best job in the NFL, gets to play GM without any of the negatives...he wouldn't leave this job for anything..no heat no media, no fans just do what makes Jerry happy and get accolades for never winning a SB....

He’s not playing GM. The only thing he does is it the draft choices. He’s a scout glorified.

The fact of the matter is, I can only hand you my paper of the guys I like it’s not my fault whether you choose them or not. The bottom line is Jerry is the GM he’s the owner. There’s nothing funny about it. Lies with him. that’s the bottom line. I think you’re the funny guy.
In other words he’s a yes man who sits there draft day doesn’t say a word when Phatt man boss, Taco, doper Randy, lazy Mazi are being drafted he just says great picks Jerry see you next year. Funny just hilarious, you have your opinion I have mine and he’s staying in Dallas because he loves the culture

Very possibly, doesn’t that suck? You tell me what you think he’s doing. He’s not hiring coaches. That’s a GM‘s job. He’s not handing the paper into the commissioner for the draft pick that’s a GM job. As far as I know, he shut the light off at the end of the day. As far as I know, the only reason he staying in Dallas is for the paycheck. Anything else like you said is an opinion?

It lies with Jerry and nothing is changing as long as he is in charge. Enjoy the games there’s nothing anyone can do to change it

He basically is the GM of personnel
That’s true to some degree. But is he really the one deciding whether to extend Dak, CeeDee and, soon to be, Micah at record setting deals and with Franchise limiting conditions. I doubt seriously that’s the case.

A true GM makes those decisions, including who to trade away and for and what the exchange is. Obviously, the owner has to approve any contract, or at least any beyond certain limits of authority, but that doesn’t make the position less a GM.

And what about coaching decisions? Does McClay have full authority thereof? Again, within predefined limits of authority.

Just my opinion here, but I would take Aikman and Jimmy Johnson as Co-GMs and someone like Joe Klatt as my Player Personnel and Draft guy since he sees college players week end and week out.

Will McClay has turned down multiple general manager offers to leave Dallas. He has proved to be an excellent director of scouting, in which the Cowboys have drafted more pro bowl players then any other team over the last decade. Sure, he has had some misses, so so do all scouting departments around the league. Point is, he has a successful track record.

With over 20 years without even a Conference Championship appearance, the Jones Family has failed, without the train robbery deal for Walker, it is debatable they ever win a championship since they bought the team. Will Jerry/Stephen give up the power? Only happens if someone who they respect convinces that the best course of action; Jimmy, Bellicheck, Saban are the type of coaches with clout that can try to convince them, try is the key word. Sad thing is, we may already have a strong GM in the building and he doesn't even have the job in McClay!
McClay made terrible draft picks , no thanks . Not to mention any good GM would have convinced Jerry not to re-sign Dak 4 years ago or now . Cowboys could have gotten stafford , baker or Garopolo for half what dak cost ,and won more.

Troy yes Jimmy advisor only just too old to put the hours in for full, Klatt is not who think he is, need someone who is not watching the top 25 and skimming others for the rest of the info.

Over Jerry and his clown of a kid I would take anyone. Still not a fan of McClays but that might be different if he didn't have to deal with Barnum and Bailey.

I'd try to talk Ozzie Newsome out of retirement before making McClay GM.

Will McClay said earlier this season that the Cowboys avoided a RB in draft due to Rico Dowdle.

That should tell you everything you need to hear.
Exactly. He's overrated. Same guy who drafted Taco and Mazi. Also the horrible second round picks.
