Will The Yankees and Mets Win More Than 80 Games This Year?

The Yankees seem to think they have some sort of legal leg to stand on which justifies them not giving A-Rod his $6 million incentive bonus for tying/passing Willie Mays' HR mark.

I am very curious as to what that legal leg is.

I never would have thought we could turn things around so quickly after our abysmal start to the season.

Swept Red Sox and at the top of AL East and 7 games above .500 in just 25 games.

It's still really early and while we are opening up a little room in the East, we still are an unproven team. I'm happy but a lot of Baseball left.

Only 64 wins to go to get to 80... Lol

As far as I'm concerned Boston stole WS a few years back. Maybe we get lucky this year.

I am not supporting or defending anyone. My interest is purely academic because I honestly don't care whether he gets it or not.

Fact is that right now MLB teams are not permitted to void contracts so I am genuinely curious about what makes the Yankees think they can void a specific clause in a contract. Cashman says there is language in the contract whereby they are not forced to pay A-Rod his $6 million bonus. I am very interested in hearing what that "language" is because I think he's full of crap.

Baseball is a marathon. No way the bullpen can sustain this pace. And this senior citizen roster cant make it thru 162 games intact.

Enjoy it now while you can.

Sending an all points bulletin for some offense in New York....................

It really sucks knowing that the pitching is there yet the offense stinks as usual. I am convinced that I could still get out there and hit around .200 and I will do it for 20k a year :(

Yeah it sucks.

But then... Man... Make it to playoffs. It's all pitching anyway. Hitting < pitching.

Maybe this is how it's supposed to be? Lol

True but I don't think that they will last 162 games with that pathetic hitting, it will catch up.

I hear ya....

Ebb and flow....

Just gotta "flow" at right time

Got to make it through the lows and ride the highs, keep the losing streaks to less than three games and try to win two of each series. The problem is......it eventually gets into the pitchers heads where they start thinking that they have to pitch a shut-out to have a chance to win. The mental part of the game is a killer, especially for starting pitching.

Yep. Yankees last night.

Happened again, Harvey pitched 7 near perfect innings(0 runs) and the bullpen loses it because of the anemic offense. How does Kirk Newenheiss(below .100 avg) still have a job????

It is pretty bad when your 8-14 position players can't play defense or offense....give me one or the other!

I am going to mostly agree.

But bullpen has a job to do.

It's not always going to be to protect a 3,4 or 5 run lead.

They gotta tighten that up.

Again, this is playoff scenario stuff we are witnessing!

Oh, the BP definitely failed last night but this is the norm.......starters go 7 or 8 strong with no run support and they come in and blow it.

It is a luxury if they come in with a 4-5 run lead.
