This what someone posted in the Yanks-Mets game thread:

"These odds on Girardi’s post-game comments on CC?

1-3: Threw well, got unlucky
2-1: He battled
5000-1: He sucked today"

Ill go with the 2-1, He battled. :D

Yeah, and he sucked as he has in just about every start this season (both spring training and the regular season) except for his last start vs. Detroit.

Like someone else posted in the Met/Yankee game thread...

"C.C. means can collect every 15th and 30th."

Harvey is already in top five pitchers in the league and moving up the list. Fun to watch. Arod needed another juiced up needle or three to catch up with his fastballs.

Still dont know if the Mets have enough hitting to win the division. You know the Nationals are going to eventually catch fire.

I barely remember the '69 season.

I can't say that I like the Mets because I don't, but I don't dislike them either.

I watched them a lot as kid on WOR... Kiner's Korner... All that kind of thing.

Mets were just kind of there season after season. They always seemed to lack another arm and a bat from competing with the big guys of the division (some mix of Philadelphia/Pittsburgh/St. Louis).

For you NYer's, what is it that makes a NYer decide to root for either the Mets or the Yanks? Does it have anything to do with what part of the city you are in?

What causes a NYer to root for either the Jets or the Giants? Islanders or Rangers? Nets or Knicks?

Just curious.

No idea, but I have always heard that if you are a Mets fan, then you are a Jets fan. Same applies to being a fan of both the Yanks and Giants. I do think the boroughs have something to do with it though.

The Mets downfall could turn out being from a sub-par middle infield. We don't have a SS who can hit for average and play great defense. One can hit but not field because he is a natural 2nd baseman and the other has a flashy glove yet can't hit.....neither have power.

Murphy(who is our 2nd) can usually hit but make the worst mental decisions at 2nd. There isn't another position that he can play. He loses his head during the game frequently, not "baseball" aware, has baserunning blunders, etc, etc. If he doesn't start hitting soon, we have a young one waiting in the wings :)

For me it was...

Something very regal about pinstripes.... Sorta like the star for Dallas...

My dad took me to games
George Steinbrenner was adamant about what he wanted... I liked that.
Billy martin crazy and wanted to win

So its not really about what part of the city or NY one lives in?
