Word on the street is that Clippard is a rental relief pitcher. Meisner has more potential in the long run according to scouts. Clip walks too many batters but at least it is only a recent issue.

Even though he is a righty, he dominates the LH'ers. I like the move but I sure hope Sandy doesn't stop here, we need a hitter or two!

They are usually in the mix every season and they do the right things to win.

Reading about baseball in the 50's, the Yankees had a heck of a rivalry with the Brooklyn Dodgers. As long as I've been a Yankees fan (since the end of the 60's) I've never sensed much of rivalry with the Mets. It's probably more from the Met's side than the Yankees.

Maybe it's because outside of the one World Series matchup when the Mets were winning, late 60's/early 70's/mid 80's, the Yankees weren't as competitive. But whatever it is, I don't get any of the Yankee/Dodger rivalry that fans reveled in during the 50's.

The Yankees had just swept back to back World Series. 12-2 in their last three WS prior to mets.

Yankees/Mets is a lot like the Giants/Jets in football. The little brother constantly fighting for the respect of the older brother.

Interestingly enough, New York was traditionally a National League town (having two National League teams will do that). When the Mets were good, they drew larger attendance than the Yankees did. The Yankees didn't break 3 million in attendance until 1998. The Mets were routinely over 3 million in the 1980s.

The worm has completely turned now, though.

Funny, I am happy with what Alderson did in the last week. He could have done it a while a while back tho as Uribe was offered from the Dodgers but he was not interested then.

Anyway, I look at what the Mets with a lot of skepticism. Love the team but hate the ownership. The Wilpons are financially hurting and really should not be the owners. They probably would not be eligible to own a club if they had to go through the process now. But of course they happen to own a club in the biggest market in the world but cannot act like it. I remember the late 70s with the Deroulet/Payson ownership who were basically the same type of owners as the Wilpons.

I want another ownership group to take over. Deroulet said in 1979 they were not going to sale and then sold it a few years later. The Wilpons say the same thing. Hopefully history repeats itself.

Yankees now 7 up in the ALEast. I honestly don't know if they have the roster to hold up all season but I am not seeing anybody else in the East who can do it either. Somebody needs to step up but nobody seems to want to.

Like Dallas' season last year, one thing that has made this baseball season so enjoyable is that most people did not think the Yanks would be any good. Proving people wrong always feels good. I don't get very worked up over baseball season but it has been a really good one thus far.
