Will Vanderjagt be released tomorrow?

My gosh, I can't believe this, Vandy misses two kicks over 40 yards yesterday and all of a sudden he is a terrible kicker. Heck even WITH his two misses today he has still hit 70% of his kicks (75% if you don't count the block against Washington which was not his fault).

Yes 2 big kicks. He and his fans can't live in his past he has to make big kicks in big games that is why he would brought here and yesterday he missed 2 very makable kicks ones that top kickers make.

I'm not a stat guy, but what is Vandy's percentage this year vs. our other kickers over the last few years?

its about the same as what we had last year.

From http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-093005oates,1,500987.story?coll=la-utilities-sports

"The newest of these game-deciding statistics is the second one. According to an Elias Sports Bureau analysis of the last five years, statistics show:

Lead Pct. Games Won
3-0 59%
7-0 71%
10-0 82%
14-0 87%

These are startling findings. If a team simply scores the opening touchdown, the averages indicate it will win seven out of 10 times (which translates conservatively to an 11-5 record for a season). Score the first two touchdowns and it's nearly nine out of 10 (almost exactly 14-2)."

BP plays by the numbers, which is why it is crucial to score first, as even a 3-0 lead gives you a 59% chance of winning the game. Missing a 43 yard FG when you're winning by 14 pts does not hurt as much as missing a 43 yard FG that puts you up 3-0. Vandy might argue "its the same thing - a missed 43 yard FG!" and technically he would be right, but timing is everything in life.

I hope he gets it working.

The SOB cost me a lap top with that second miss. I can only wish, I know he will keep his job but I will dream......

Yeah... BP said other things besides "I dont have another kicker"... maybe youe head was somewhere too for that?

"head in sand", "sand in eyes", "real world"? yeah Hos you continue to be... uh, cute.

Masked frustration about Vinatieri? No.
Although I would have prefered Adam... he is not on the team. Now that Vandy is on the team he aint getting it done. THAT is my frustration.

Tea, thank you.
I'm not crazy about him either, but I'm realistic enough to realize we're stuck with him for now.

For Bledsoe there was a viable option. For Vaderjagt there isn't at this point.

Right now Vandy is 25% from 40 to 49 the top kickers in the league are hitting this distance at a much higher rate. No matter how anyone spins it Vandy needs to get his act together.

Look Hos... you are a good guy... you have your self righteousness about you... but then who doesnt....

Just like BP said he spent TWO DAYS looking for Ellis replacement... I HOPE, I REALLY HOPE he spends some time looking for Kicking options....

Dont think for a minute that Jerry wouldnt piss away that Vandy salary for a reliable kicker and a SB....

THAT my friend is the REAL Reality... not the bizzaro reality you speak of..

but he's only had 4 tries from that distance. if we were talking 2 of 8 it would suggest something very different than 1 of 4 - both suck but you can turn 1-4 around with a good game or two

The plain truth from the airwaves of Cowboys America Network.

I wonder if Parcells, just out of sheer dismay at Vanderjahgt, will release him Monday"

And I hope the secondary coach follows him out the door. I think even Jerry Jones could make better adjustments than that joker coach, however he is, has made all year. I am flat out tired of our secondary being burned so frequently.

My peeps below agree.

:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Vandy was paid big bucks - he ain't going no where unless Vinatieri, Akers or a similar level kicker is released for us to go after this week (in other words, no chance).

Our secondary gave up 14 points and only got beat over the top once against the top passing offense in the NFL and one of the best all time - I'm nost sure I see your problem.

He was not brought here to kick like this. Jerry did not pay big money for this type of performance. Vandy looks like crap right now and not even Parcells feel comfortable with him per his conference last night. We may not have much of a choice right now in regards to keeping him or releasing him but unless there is a big improvement I doubt he will be back next year. Vandy did not put the work in during camp talking about how he can do it when it counts and many defended him with this non sense of what he did in the past despite a poor pre-season well these are real games and he is not getting it done.

Let Vanderclunk play on Thursday .

Cut Vanderclunk on Friday .

Sign back Suisham on Saturday and let him finish out the season .

Determine if Suisham can be your kicker of the future through the final 5 games .

Draft Mason Crosby in the 2007 draft if Suisham doesn't work out .

All very simple .

Very good points and I am in total agreement with Hostile opinion. We are pretty much stuck with this guy so there is no need to cry about it. BP is not about to cut him because he is the best out there at this stage of the season. Hostile is only being realistic about the situation. I would hate the guy if he was 100% because he is an arrogant SOB who thinks he can walk on water because he has the top FG % in history and makes excuses for his faults. Doomsday said it best when during training camp he was so hurt and didnt think a kicker of his statue (his words not mine) should have to kick off. he was brought here is kick field goals and thats why he gets the big bucks. Like Hostile said, i still hate the guy because he almost cost us the game and all he had to say was he had a bad day and dont worry about it.

The reality is we are stuck with this jerk and I think we can get the same results next season from a cheaper guy with a better attitude. The most accurate kicker is history was ran out of Indy and be ran out of Dallas. Hope he has a retirement party with Blesdoe, Rivera, and Flozell because those are four over 30s that are gone for sure. Just like his confidence.

My tone is meant to be sarcastic, not self righteous. There's no self righteousness here, I'm not crowing about being right. I'm telling you I don't like the guy. This isn't my horse in the race. I don't have one.

I'm telling you we will not be on a kicking carousel with a revolving doors for several guys to come in and give it a shot with Vandy's shot being over and done. This may not be what I want, but I've come to accept it. It has to do with how much scratch we laid on the table for this guy to kick. Believe it or no that does factor in.

In college football a walk on may be better than a scholarship player, but he'll ride the pine until they can give him a scholarship as well. Coaches and teams simply cannot justify wasting a scholarship. This is the same situation.

Barring him getting injured, abruptly retiring, or simply can't do his job at all, there will not be a rush to replace him. There just won't. They'll work with him on his mechanics, study film, do everything they can to figure out what is wrong, but they will not pull the rip cord until there is no other choice or a miracle option shows up from nowhere.

I don't believe in faery tales.

I agree and I think Vandy stays this year unless they start bringing in kickers and someone impresses the Cowboys which is possible but not likely at this stage.

His misses were at least close. It's not like he shanked em, and they were over 40 yds.

He wont be released but damn it he should be. ahh... it will be a while till i get over us going after Vanderjerk than Adam Vinatieri

And good kickers make them. He was brought here to make kicks exactly like what he faced yesterday. inside 50 big time kicker make them more times than not.
