Win Or Lose

Jeez, Hos, what a mature rebuttal.

There is nothing wrong with wanting your team to be the best. I am not going to stop being a fan just because we aren't the best yet. Hell, I was a fan when we went 1-15! If I were a fake fan I would have jumped off long ago. Since I am a true fan, though, I am not going to applaud the emperor's awesome new wardrobe.

I hope we do well, of course! Doesn't mean I don't want us to improve our pass rush and secondary coverage.
It wasn't a rebuttal. Mature or otherwise.

You want me to rebut something, throw me something to rebut.

I was dead serious. I don't know what to tell you. If you can't measure this team against what we have had in the recent past and instead have to measure it against the Patriots whom we all knew were going to be a great team, then I don't know what to tell you.

I have no rebuttal for that kind of thinking. I am not programmed to think about jealousy of another teams success when my team is showing remarkable improvement over recent accomplishments. I have no way of knowing how that works.

In the 70's I knew the Steelers were the best team in the NFL. I didn't focus on them. In the 80's I knew the 49ers were the best. I didn't focus on them either. I can't focus on the Patriots now and let it ruin my season.

What you and a couple of others are suggesting as the reason for this just doesn't compute for me. I can't wrap my mind around that idea at all.

Like I said, enjoy your misery I guess. There is no way on this earth that every single player is going to have the game of their life every week. Good luck with that.

It would be nice to have players that can kick butt even when they are playing a 'normal' game.

Yeah, we are a better team than we were 3 years ago. A 300Z is better than a Yugo...but it's still not a Porsche.

I suspect Hos is right. There are probably posters here who simply do not like each other, don't like each other's style. That's not so shocking.

Sports bar relationships typically don't get deep enough to fully discover the disconnect. Plus I suspect people tend to be a bit more disguised face to face than when behind a monitor. So I suspect its predictable that people's disharmony is going to surface more readily on a site like this.

I mostly try to stay away from folks here that I know I would clash with. I don't have the time to wrestle through that stuff even though it might in the end be worthwhile in some cases.

The disharmony used to frustrate me a lot but I'm actually surprised at how invisible it has become to me since I stopped trying to make everyone think like me. I think at some point that's what it was for me.

I'm like you, I'm loving what is happening and going on. And like you say, everybody expected the Patriots to do well this year anyway.

But, more than that, I don't care. I threw up a couple of possible reasons why people are the way they are here on the board in my earlier post, but honestly, no way am I letting someone else rain on my parade.

Call me a homer, havin my glasses on or whatever, but as far as I'm concerned, my team is on top, and better than that, there is not one team out there that I don't feel we can't beat, Patriots included.

But I'm definitely not worried about them today, nor have I been since we played them. My plans are to re-watch yesterday's game and revel in 10-1. We'll deal with who we have to when we have to.

As for this particular Cowboys team and season. Its a blast! There is so much to appreciate and be thankful for versus the last decade whether this team ever gets to or wins a Super Bowl.

That does not mean everything is rosey. We do have weaknesses on this team and I for one believe we still have plenty of work to do before we will have earned our SB berth if it happens.

Yeah, its probably a two-team NFC race at this point but I do consider it a race nevertheless. Green Bay is very capable of beating us at home next week. Stranger things have happened and that could put quite a different twist on things. For those of us who believe we could take the Pats down on a given Sunday its not hard to consider that someone else could do the same to us in the playoffs before we even get that chance.

I love the talent and character of this team on the whole. Its head and shoulders above anything we've had since our last SB. But its not perfect and that is why some grouse about those things.

Our kickoffs and kickoff coverages are mediocre at best. Yes, Roy can be undone in coverage. Yes, our offense can at times be inconsistent or sputtering. Its tough to imagine us slaying Goliath while displaying some of these achillles heels. So that is why some worry.

Hopefully not to the extent that they lose appreciation for all the good things about this team. But it does happen sometimes.

Thats prolly has more truth than ppl will admit,
I know here in West Texas when the cowboys lose, ppl feel the sky's not as blue..the sunsets suck..job sucks *** and the women they married should be sniffing luggage at an airport.

Its been a long time coming for all of us..I for 1 am loveing this season..
I love the cowboys win or lose.

GO COWBOYS!!

I understand individuality better than anyone. I'm someone who prefers to read the thoughts of people who don't think like me. It isn't individuality that is getting me down. It isn't the complaining and the complaints about complaining.

I said it before, I think there are posters who genuinely dislike each other and want to make sure everyone knows it. They aren't enjoying the ride as you suggest. At least, it doesn't look like it from where I sit week in and week out.

Put them in the same room watching a game and don't tell them who each other are and they'd exchange high fives and yell and shout and have a ball celebrating. Put them on a forum with the free exchange of ideas and they can't stand each other.

Someone said this to me yesterday and there was some truth to it. "The Political Zone is more peaceful right now, than the main forum, and we're 10-1." Politics is where people love to hate each other.

I don't know, I look at this as a brotherhood. This year, more than any other I can remember, it seems dysfunctional. The worst part is, some seem to be enjoying the dysfunction more than the team. I confess, I don't get it. That's what this thread is. My admission that I don't get it.

I'm not saying we should all group hug and sing Kumbaya. But damn, at least have fun. This team is fun.

"Naw, can't do that. I need to eat my fingernails and Maalox and worry about the Patriots. it isn't bad enough that ESPN and every other media outlet out there is riding their jocks, I need to ride their jock too."

No thanks.

I was lock step with ya right to this point... What I am trying to say is that... no you don't need to as you said eat fingernails & mallox and worry about the Pats...but why would you want to take the enjoyment out of those that do?

It really does take all kinds my friend...I have seen folks on this forum alone who seems to promote violence as a way of solving problems... or... well lets say that they were so foreign from mine that I would think the poster and I must be from a totally different planet.

As far as posters seeking out certain posters to just post stupidity...I could not agree more with the idiocy of it and how we really all should be enjoying the ride (how ever the poster chooses to... whether that be with a smile or a frown)

Yup when I log on everyone should feel as I feel , think as I think, do as I do... it would be rather boring now wouldn't it...

Good luck to you in all that you seek for Tass. Your wife isn't Jessica Alba, but I hope you'll be happy with her anyway. Your home isn't the Taj Mahal, but I hope you don't hate it.

Look you need not justify your fandom or how you wish to root for your team

I think the desire in us at times to be accepted and respected leads us to be sheepeople...

Do your own thing man, seek what it is you seek, for you alone know what your need is. If you allow another whom you hold in high regard to set your standards for you...you will never reach your true goals...

to thine ownself be true...

chin up and chest out soldier and be proud of you and the you who you strive to be

I don't want everyone to think like I do. It might seriously hurt people's heads.

I flat out do not understand the belief that this team's flaws are catastrophic and other teams can exploit us, but we can't exploit them. I might understand that if we were 1-10. That would indicate that we just plain suck.

I'm questioning why some can't at least be happy. Remember the O.P. was about joy.

You're spending WAY too much time worrying about others boss. Enjoy the Cowboys the way you do and don't let anything or anyone ruin it for you.

You can't do anything about what others think and it's a waste of your time even addressing it.

Enjoy the ride as you are and let others deal with it the way they deal with it. It is what it is and that's not going to change as much as some of us may want it to.

Grab a beer and settle down there big fella (don't grab one of mine though).

My 2 cents - carry on.

:)

Easier said than done amigo. You see, I get the goodbye PMs from people who love what this forum offers but have simply had enough. I don't share those.

Meanwhile there are 2 or 3 posters who hate this place but won't leave. They profess their hatred regularly towards the forum, fellow fans, etc.

I see a lot more than I comment on.

Hos my friend do the words saddism & masochism mean anything to you?

There are some that derive pleasure from pain and there are other that derive pleasure in dealing out pain...there are varying degrees to this of course

some people just aren't happy unless they have something to bee itch about...it is the Gods honest truth...

It takes all kinds all we can do as a people is either accept this as human behavior and drop the weight of imperfection from our shoulders or not accept it and carry that weight.

As a young Zaxor I took to fighting many a windmill... but with age and less energy I have to choose my fights much more prudently...but when they put me in the grave..you know what friend I will not have beaten one windmill

LOL....

And then there are many who won't come anywhere near this place after a loss, or a close win, or after a game.

After games, we can have a "Euphoria Zone" and a "Concerns Zone".

I hear and understand what you're saying but this place has become so much bigger than we ever thought... and it's only going to get bigger.

Everyone is not going to be happy - that's the nature of the beast.

I realize you get more PM's but that is also the nature of your "job."

Unfortunately, guys like myself don't tell you enough what a good job you are all doing (except CBZ - he's a slacker).

There has to be a place to vent - and that place is ... well...you. ;)

Bottom line is, this is the best place there is, by far, and we probably don't thank you enough for running such a great site.

There are going to be complaints and it's a given that there are some miserable complainers around here.

Probably easier for me to say as I don't see the PM's as you state but like I said - this place is HUGE and has the best posters on any Cowboys site there is.

My guess is that you are one turkey fart away from being ok.

Cheers.
