Rice is too much like Barber. IMO you want your 2 best backs to be alittle different, ex: A bruiser like Barber, then maybe a Chris Johnson, or Jammar Charles, speed guys. Or a guy that has speed and Power like Jonathan Stewart.:star:

Barber put Urlacher on his keister by lowering his shoulder. Rice goes down when a safety can get a hand on him.

Rice is quicker than Barber and has better vision but Rice can run through arm tackles in the hole but goes down everytime that a defender gets a hand on him. Look at the highlights; he consistently can find and get through the hole but never gets past the safeties unless the line is stacked or he can get outside and a blocker seals the edge.

To me hes a poor mans Warrick Dunn.

Rice and Barber are pretty much opposites.

And Fuzzy, c'mon... Rice does not go down that easy.

I have yet to see Rice ever lower his shoulder and stone a safety much less a LBer.

He just doesnt have a physical running style. He doesnt need to with his vison and quickness.

i like him brah. If we got him he would be the antiJJ finding all the holes that JJ would run to the side of.

Anyone who thinks he does simply hasn't watched the guy play. Or perhaps they did and they're just dumb.

i saw them play Ball State.

Didn't he have a sick game that game, like 3-4 TD's. I really think you need to see more of Rice. Seriously, he doesn't go down like some patsy. He's a tough, solid and durable back that never fumbles. I've never once considered Rice as easy to tackle. IMO/FWIW..........

I think a lot of people just dont know what they are talking about when it comes to Ray Rice.

I can understand how you could say you dont want him in the 1st round but you can't criticise a team that does.

My ONLY beef with him is his break away speed but like a lot have said on this board his running style is eerily similar to Emmitt.

You guys are going to like this one

[Drew_Boylhart] Personally, I think Ray Rice is the 2nd best RB in this draft. You may think this is crazy, but this is what I see on film. I wouldn't pass on him if I needed a RB -- even if that high (late 1st-early 2nd).

Oh man your funny.

Anyways

MY OPINION is after McFadden I cant confidently say any of these backs are going to be better than Ray Rice on the next level.

Sorry but I just dont get the impression that he is very powerful. Safeties eat him up and he uses his quickness and vision to avoid tackles. There is nothing wrong with that. There are tons of backs that have gotten a ton of mileage out of that style.

Barber is one of the worst short yardage runners statistically in the league. i would love a big back like Stewart or Mendenhall that can get you 2 or three yards when nothing is there.

You finding that comical doesn't exactly bode well for Rice detractors.

I actually like Rice, but not that much. He is good at a lot of things and great at nothing.

I can see how one would like to say this...he lacks great speed, he lacks great size, he lacks great power...but he has one quality that I argue that IS great. His vision. IMO, he has the best vision of any back in years. His lateral agility is pretty damn good too.

IMO, Vision much > than speed and size for a RB.

(And he's not that slow either. Sub 4.5 40.)

that and hes quick. he can make cuts that no other back in this draft can make. that combined with his vision is a deadly combination.

Yep. He's no Barry Sanders, but he's certainly more elusive than anything we have had in Dallas in years.
