He could likely be on a 2 year contract, I certainly don't want anything more then 4, he may even be cheaper than 4. I'm fine with some depth and he's good enough to start, we have so many holes on this roster getting him for next to nothing will not hamper this team.

Just because he is the best we have today does not mean we cannot get/find better. Also, no one is on the bat phone asking for a trade, so no, I wouldn't make an offer to extend.
Sometimes when there's a worse group......there's a best of the worse in that worse group too. Rico is a best of the worse.

Yes for a cap friendly figure I would definitely bring him back . Dowdle along with a 3rd or 4th round back next April would make a nice combo . With better blocking i have no doubt his numbers would look better . And he’s dangerous out of the backfield catching the ball .

If I am Rico and I am checking all my options before Dallas. So should all of our other FA's.

Jerry is not smart enough to extend a few of them now before the season is over.

I think the Dallas Cowboys lead the world in fans willing to accept mediocrity.

Rico hit free agency this year and was still avilable three weeks later to sign a one year contract worth $1,040,000 with $100,000 in guarantees.

No, no, no.

To be clear, the alternative would be to approach free agency and the draft with Deuce Vaughn as RB1.
I'm not a Dowdle fan, but I would like everyone to consider the entire picture here.

What if there is a team higher up on the draft order who wants Jeanty? Do we really want to roll the dice with Luepke and Vaughn as the only RBs under contract?

I would not be offended with a two year offer to him.

That's a decision for the next HC. I do like Rico and I would resign him as long as it's not too rich

Let him test the market and likely match whatever he's offered. It won't be much and he's a solid back worth keeping around. He's a pretty solid pass catcher too.

Hes been over 4ypc every game but Cleveland. That's saying something with this blocking.

I'd take Jeanty and let Rico back him up.

Our Coaches don't make decisions.

I know man, but that's why I hope we actually go after Belichek or someone with backbone. It's a long shot, but I'm hoping Jerry feels the desperation after this season.
