He's 26, low tread on the tires, well-rounded back w/ good work ethic. Maybe it's something to consider so we don't get into the offseason/draft with an empty RB room.

Sure, he isn't bad. Now they will actually use him.

You can spend a 5th round pick to replace Rico. 2 years 4 mil? Maybe. AJ Dillon and Alexander Mattison are decent comps for Rico, they signed 1 year deals for under 3 mil. I promise no other team would be looking at Rico for anything other than a maybe 10 touch a game backup.

I think not. Put him on KC and he would get a 1000 yards. He has some power and some wiggle. Our blocking sucks. He is not a bad back.
KC has a better offensive system, of course he would be good there. Dallas system? Not so much. It makes no sense to want to resign a player because they would be good else where but suck on your own team.

What Dallas needs to do is rebuild this toilet of a team starting with the FO, and then trade these diva *** players for picks.

Yes, he is cheap depth at the position. We still need more help, though. No reason we can't find a good rb in rounds 2 or 3 who can run cheaply for 4 seasons.

I'm not a Dowdle fan, but I would like everyone to consider the entire picture here.

What if there is a team higher up on the draft order who wants Jeanty? Do we really want to roll the dice with Luepke and Vaughn as the only RBs under contract?

I would not be offended with a two year offer to him.
That's where I'm at with it. They screwed up this year by letting Pollard walk and not replacing him....unless you count Zeke. The drop-off from Dowdle to Deuce is far more substantial than that from Pollard to Dowdle. They missed in the last two drafts when they had opportunities to take a back. Even if they do manage to find one in the 25 draft, there's no guarantee that they'll be effective, and having a fallback option like Dowdle makes alot of sense. Don't break the bank for him, but if you can bring him back on a cheaper 2 year deal, you at least mitigate the chances of having absolutely nobody that can play the position on the roster.
