Best case scenario is that Woods pushes Heath the first half of the season and slides into the starting role around game 9 or so.

Is a tackle 2 yards short of a first on 3rd down the same as a yard past the marker? That's the differentiation - A stop is making a play short of a "successful" play. It's kind of subjective based on what one would deem "successful".

For instance, any tackle short of the first on 3rd/4th down is considered a stop, I think that's pretty simple and agreed upon. But what makes a stop on say 1st down? Is a screen pass for a gain of 2 a stop? I think PFF uses 45% on 1st down and 60% of yards on 2nd down as their baseline.

Heath just isnt that good. Woods at this point has no ceiling because he is a relative unknown. He appears to have a nose for the ball. Its just a matter of time before Woods takes over.

He was the 1 bright spot on defense in that Green Bay playoff game.


You have to believe in player development and the guy just has a nose for the ball.

You can absolutely argue that. He had one great game and that is just about all he has done. Hes been a 3rd string backup behind suspect starters for 3 years. If he had earned the job he would have been starting already. He basically the only guy left with any experience.

My god I am so tired of hearing about the GB game. The guy has been here for 3 years. Its all you Heath fans talk about because its all he has ever done. And no, EVER doesnt mean nothing at all.

He is slow and his tackling is suspect. Nose for the ball? Oh wait, the GB game right?

Heath is going to silence a lot of people week 1.

He should be showing something in preseason now. I saw a lot of miss tackles by him the past couple of games. These young boys are jumping and ready to go. It will be interesting to see how this will turn out.
