Maybe you should. You don't appear to understand its meaning.

Why are you in this thread?
Because I can be. Don't like it? Block me and/or stop replying.
Not that I need to explain myself to you but I have been discussing the topic, with others. You're the one that seems to have to get the last word and flex your internet muscles.
Feel free to get yourself back on topic. The back and forth is boring.
Have a great day!

Why not discuss the topic then? I made points, the article made points, others have made points. I asked you to clarify something and all you came back with were stupid quips and deflections. And you did that repeatedly.

I guess you fail to realize you are also hitting the reply button.

I have been calmly trying to discuss, you have not. That is a fact.

Hate to belabor Dez stuff but since this was a stance some took here, I thought I’d at least report the article for board consumption

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/jerry-...boys-late-release-hurt-chances-150622751.html

But the Cowboys waited more than a month into free agency to cut him. Why? We really don’t know. The Cowboys have talked around that, but again, if they weren’t going to keep Bryant on a pay cut, there was no real reason to wait other than indecision. By April 13, the bulk of NFL free agency is done. Cutting Bryant late wasn’t a help to the Cowboys, who couldn’t use the cap savings on any top-shelf free agents, and it sure didn’t help Bryant.

This was exactly the point I made about it at the time as well.

It's an indefensible move that doesn't make any sense. It never has.

Whatever Dez did does not mean that Jerry/Stephen/Cowboys did not also put Dez in a poor situation.

The problem with your argument is that Dez got a fair offer from Baltimore but turned it down. Once again we are back to accountability for your own actions. It's such a hard concept for some people to grasp.

And how does this change the fact that the Joneses and the Cowboys put him in a poor situation given their own timing?

It doesn't.

Just because Bryant got an offer doesn't let this team off the hook for their own lousy timing.

That is not a problem with my argument at all.

Getting an offer from Baltimore (that you consider fair) does not change the facts of how this was handled, and that the prime FA period is immediately after FA begins.

These are basic facts that nobody would reasonably deny.

There is a reason that there is now the June 1st designation instead of just the June 1 cut date.

The problem is that you think Dez is something other than an employee of the team. The reality is the decision to cut Dez was made long ago but it took some convincing to get the old man to actually do it. Regardless of the timing being bad for Dez it still will never change the fact the Cowboys have the right to cut whomever they want whenever they want (The are the corporation/boss/owners/in charge). Their is no lousy timing on the part of the Cowboys because they retain that right to conduct business as they see fit. Yeah, maybe it sucks for Dez but he is just a player who struggles with self-accountability. His mental breakdown and physical decline is evident.

What were the incentives for Cowboys to wait on releasing Dez?

Then the timing of it can be criticized .

Once again the Cowboys are a business and owe Dez nothing. Sorry to tell you the truth but guys like Romo built up good will and the Cowboys reciprocated. Dez fostered nothing more than strive and the Cowboys reciprocated.

I don't think that Dez is owed anything. I'm with with the decision to cut him, what's indefensible is the timing. If "the old man" took that long to be convinced, then that's another blemi, on him and this team. The league works on NFL time, not Jerry Jones time.

Regardless of the timing being bad for Dez it still will never change the fact the Cowboys have the right to cut whomever they want whenever they want (The are the corporation/boss/owners/in charge). False. The league has dates and times that do NOT revolve around Jerry Jones, his family, or the Dallas Cowboys. If he's too busy off on vacation to make key decisions on NFL time, that's on HIM. And it's to this organization's detriment.

Yeah, maybe it sucks for Dez but he is just a player who struggles with self-accountability. His mental breakdown and physical decline is evident.

None of these factors excuse the lousy timing of his release, unless perhaps you're contending that spite was involved in the decision-making?

You may be right, Dallas did what was in their best interest. Just based on comments recently about Dez, I think it took some convincing for Jones to sign off on releasing Dez. I think much of this came down to McCray convincing Jones. Back in 2015 Dez was threating to hold out if he did not get what he wanted, he did this in his best interest. Everyone does what is in their interest

Okay...so give me a reasonable business reason the Cowboys would have that benefits them in doing what they did?

They don't owe him anything, but that doesn't mean they still can't do something wrong.

Ok, so it's clearly your claim that it was a spite move. Nice to see the truth finally come out.

:omg:

If Dez was as good as he thinks he is, it wouldn't matter when he was released. Release Julio Jones right now and see what happens. Releasing him late only hurt Dez because he is not the player he once was, among other things. And post #13 is most likely the reason he was released late.

Hasn't stopped others from signing so what are the repercussions of the Cowboys timing? None, it is a business and most people can understand that.

And there was no "business" sense for the timing.

"Most people can understand that" as well. At least those not blinded by homersim and defending everything this team does at all costs.

I don't see how waiting until late April was in the Cowboys best interests.

I don't think Jones had any malicious intent or anything, but incompetence/indecision is really not something we should defend either.
