But the Cowboys waited more than a month into free agency to cut him. Why? We really don’t know. The Cowboys have talked around that, but again, if they weren’t going to keep Bryant on a pay cut, there was no real reason to wait other than indecision. By April 13, the bulk of NFL free agency is done. Cutting Bryant late wasn’t a help to the Cowboys, who couldn’t use the cap savings on any top-shelf free agents, and it sure didn’t help Bryant.[/QUOTE]

Don't care.

Hate to belabor Dez stuff but since this was a stance some took here, I thought I’d at least report the article for board consumption

Meh, Dez didn't play like a #1 WR so we'll call it even. It's really time to move on.

The median American Household annual income in 2016 was $59,039. So, it would take average American household 962 years and 3 months to earn what Dez Bryant earned in 8 seasons playing for the Cowboys. That's the whole household - not just a single person.

Don't cry for Dez.

Don't cry for Dez.

This is a logical fallacy. Just because the Cowboys have paid him a lot of money in the past does not change that they likely hindered his earning potential in the immediate future.

It's not a matter of "feeling sorry." That's a cop out.

Dez would have made gobs of money without the Cowboys as well.

I think Dallas did screw Dez by waiting as long as they did to cut him. But I don't think that's why he's unemployed. I have been in the workforce since I was 18 and the one thing I have been told repeatedly by many people throughout the years is at a job interview, never, ever, bash your former employer. As I type this wearing my Dez jersey, Dez screwed himself by going on national TV and bashing his former employer with that Garrett Guys crap.

Jerry didn't do him any favors by waiting to cut him but Dez screwed himself by displaying to the rest of the NFL world that he doesn't deal well with things when it doesn't go his way. By doing that Garrett Guys crap Dez lived up to the narrative that he's immature, selfish, and all the other stuff that's been written about him over the years. Bad move on Dez's part, I wish he wouldn't have done that.

Hate the way the fanbase at this site turn on its players once they're gone...

I haven't turned on Dez. I am still not happy he was released. But even still, the Cowboys don't owe him an apology. They paid $56,810,500 for the right to take their time making a decision.

Also, Dez is still unemployed because he didn't take the Ravens offer of $21M. I'm not blaming him for that. According to him, it wasn't a money issue, it was a length of contract issue. He wants a one-year deal, and is betting on himself to be able to show he's still an elite WR. To do that, he needs to find a very accurate QB, not one still honing his craft, like Dak.

So, in my opinion, the teams he should be targeting are the Chargers, Saints, Packers, Patriots, Cardinals, Lions and other teams with established QB's. I'm not sure what he's willing to play for this year in order to land another big deal next year.

Yeah, Jerry made Dez fail to improve at his craft, be a distraction on and off the field, drop all those passes, get hurt and age.

All Jerry’s fault.

I think the Jane Slater interview hurt Dez Bryant more than anything else. His comment about “guys with C’s on their jerseys” stank then and it stinks now - especially with Jason Witten retired.

As in every business that exists and has ever existed and will ever exist....how you treat employees matters.

Anyone who dismisses this simple fact is a fool.

Agree. If I were a future free agent, I would have my agent take Dallas off of the list after seeing this.

Regardless of a player’s production or talent, you treat your employees with respect and dignity. They knew they were going to cut him and they didn’t do that, and the “leverage over Hurns” excuse is complete ********. Hurns has the internet and TV just like we do, and NFL coverage was absolutely saturated with the media’s obsession about a Dez pay cut or waiver.
